EF in the break again

There's seemingly a lot nature breaks in this race so far, or the cameras are especially good at spotting riders having one.
Saunders looks sort of scrappy!! Don't know if he has road results, but for sure in crits that muscular Barney Rubble body works for him.. Don't know where you try and put pressure on UAE when it's this flat..

Another dominant leadout from Bora. Longer sprint for Welsford but as a proper big guy a la Kittel/Greipel it's not a problem for him.
Ewan fading. Started the sprint on Welsford's wheel but went backwards.
Girmay once again in a terrible position. This time there was no opening for him.
Bauhaus boxed in. Gave up early.

Ewan is still recovering from illness, so hopefully he will be better for Ride Torquay and Cadel Evans race - Plapp crashing is so disappointing for the race because he was the one to beat up Willunga Hill. I am unsure that Yates is ideally suited up Willunga Hill because it is a power climb.

How badly hurt is Plapp? Could he still go for the win on Willunga even if he is out of GC contention?
I doubt it - It will be about protecting Yates and Harper - It's not an ideal situation because Jayco wanted to protect Yates from too much exertion who then goes to the Saudi Tour and I doubt Harper is good enough to win. With Plapp, second day after a crash is usually when a rider suffers.

Just seen the images of Plapp rolling over the line. That looks like it will get extremely sore and painful. DNS is the sensible thing to do and heal the wounds ahead of the rest of the season.

Ya, they looked good with 1.2 km to go when they were lined up behind Tarling but their team is not Saeco so when Bora (I think it was) came up and took over they just lost all position they had.

Don't know about that. He has to remain in Australia regardless for CEGORR. If it's feasible and he can ride without much pain, he might as well stay in the race.
Has to is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Undoubtedly he will want to race there and carry on here if physically able to but it’s not a Grand Tour and a GC result is gone so by any metric other than it being a home series of races nothing really should matter that much to stay in.

They'll probably get Durbridge to fly over from Perth.

Plapp is taking some time off the bike:
