Whoever accepted the money under the table to put Nationals in Perth needs to be named and shamed. Terrible turnout from non-WT riders, and a terrible course

That’s too bad. In the early 80s as kids my siblings and I competed in the national BMX titles held in Perth (I am in Sydney). As far as I recall the existing age title holders from the previous Melbourne titles showed up. I don’t think flights were any cheaper then (allowing for inflation) - in our case my dad drove us there. So could there be another reason for the poor turnout from non-WT riders?

Yeah, and even then there's been a disproportionate number of WA riders because flights are so stupidly expensive

And the women's elite race is continuining their stupidity with how they are riding. Then you add the ridicolous distance of 109kms.

This is such an embarrassing race. I can't really believe they let it happen. Especially Jayco, their best hope now is a conti rider?

It's roughly $700 each way from Brisbane by Qantas. Jetstar is around $250 each way, Virgin $270. Less than I thought if you don't go Qantas

Stewart is good. She'll get a few starts with the WT once she adapts to European conditions
Stewart is good. Happy for her but I don’t think the race really encourages people who don’t normally watch cycling to watch it or even good viewing for people who watch a lot of cycling.

The men’s race will be interesting, hopefully they learn from this and the U23 men’s.

As you and and I follow women's cycling this kind of race too often occurrence in the women's peleton. Some days they don't wish to race but it's a feature of their racing.

I’m on a quest to get all the guys I work with to watch women’s cycling but I’m struggling over here.

Anyone else find it annoying that they showed the whole of the u23 men’s races as well as the women’s but now are only having liver coverage for half the men’s race?

One day something will make sense.

When does the coverage start?

Women's racing is usually one extreme or the other and it's usually impossible to predict.

Was the Men’s race always this late to start? Can’t remember being able to watch it. In my head it’s always a bit like TDU where I just see the result when waking up

No, the race has moved to Perth on the west coast. During summer they're 3 hours behind Ballarat.

They're also starting the race later in the day too.
