Why doesn't Levi shave his head? I've never understood why guys keep the side remnants. The game is over, shave it all off. /rant

Levi shaves head in mourning for Trooper. Trooper was one of Odessas' pack of 6 Chiuahuas that was taken by Great Horned owl.

Looks pretty bald to me.

Looks like Levi could be coming into the form of his life. TT’ing is better than solid and will be interesting to see how he climbs come the mountain stages at Paris-Nice.

He’d be on a nice salary but this may be his last chance to take a real crack at the Tour.

How long can he go on willing to stuff up that chance to support Armstrong. One mountain stage hanging back to help the old man is going to kill off his chances… is he willing to breakfree?

No offence meant dude, but the above is why I started a thread a few minutes back called "Your Tour Predictions." Levi ain't gonna win squat. He had a chance at last years Giro and was off. His last strong GT was in 2008 at the Vuelta. Levi will win in California and that is it. He was next to useless yesterday in Paris-Nice and my faith in his prospects have long been gone.

As for breaking free. Radioshack won't win a stage at the Tour this year, let alone any race other than California, because they don't have the firepower and tactical mentality. Bruyneel likes the wear them down approach which is fine if you have Lance in his heyday or Contador today. He has neither. Levi only finishes ahead of Lance if Lance well and truly blows it. That won't happen.

To put it another way; Say Levi is within 30 seconds of Contador and the Shlecks start attacking... he looks around at old man Armstrong and he’s looking like he did on Verbier last year. Does he stay or does he go? He has to go. To skittle his own chances even of a top 5 finish bywaiting for a rider who’ll be lucky to make the top 20 is going to be the worst mistake of his life.

Why? If he were a low 20 something year old like Gesink and his team captain faltered (presumably Menchov) then there is reason to make a move. Why? Because of his age and prospective career ahead of him. Levi is 36 right now. How does droping the money man on the team make sense at his age. It is identical to Kloden and Vino in 2007 after Vino had 60 stitches in his leg and arm. Kloden could have gone with moves but he didn't. It is about mentality and he just doesn't have it. I do think Levi is stronger than others on RadioShack but that doesn't mean much at the Tour when Lance is team captain.

if Rass goes out earlier, the race changes. I think Evans and Levi with Conta battle out for the win.

If Vino hadn't have fallen then him and Rasmussen would have fought out the win. Levi was the most improved rider in 2007 during the final week. I do not need to explain why, but will. Stage 16, he was dropped by Evans, Chicken and AC. Levi caught up to a dropped Evans and then beat AC by 16 seconds, finishing 20 back to the Chicken. Then he puts 56 or so seconds into Evans in the final ITT who came second by some distance. Heck AC came 5th 2:20 down. Levi was on some serious juice in the final week of the 2007 Tour. Juice he no longer has or can acquire on tap. Considering he is a Diesel, that 2007 final week was amazing.

IMO it didn't really matter that they were teammates. Levi was the team leader. He had a good track record in the Tour (I would consider multiple top-10 finishes a good track record) while Contador was unproven in GTs at the time. If I recall correctly (my memory and perception of the 07 Tour might be a bit vague I didn't get any commentary on the 07 Tour because I only got feeds in Irish), it wasn't so much of Levi not chasing a teammate, but that he couldn't keep up with the pace when you have two exposive climbers. He, like Cadel, simply didn't have the kick to stay with the Chicken while Contador did.

IMO the situation was almost reversed at the 09 Vuelta. I think Levi might have had a chance of winning if he wasn't on Contador's team. Contador was the designated team leader (as shown by Contador's complaining of Levi placing too close for comfort). That being said, I don't think Levi would have won that one because of the same reasons already stated: he lacks a kick and he doesn't have the "it" factor (aka rides like a pu$$y)

Reread the above post by me. He beat AC on the final mountain after being dropped. Levi was simply to weak earlier on. In the final week of the 2007 Tour he was the strongest rider in the entire peloton. It is why he almost came second. Levi had very good form from September 2008 to March 2009. His wonder spell ended there. Though I do think he was stronger than Lance coming into the Tour. I also thought Horner was as well, but mental attitude is what differntiates these guys. Lance has the goods in that department.
