I'm convinced those chips have fallen.

Thanks for the links.

Taking this into account, I wonder when the information will be leaked-as in, the definite names and what they said.

Not only is this going to be THEE bombshell, but it will shut up the fanboys once and for all.

I hope Jeff Novitzky takes this into account, just to relieve us of these crashing bores here on the cyclingnews forum.

McIlvain should serve as a warning to other's who think they should not do the right thing and lie to a court of law for cheater's and to protect their companies interests. If someone is prepared to cheat to achieve their success, be sure they'll treat others the same way, with disdain when it comes to it, whether you take a bullet for them or not. Eaten bread is soon forgotten

The timing of the McIlvaine recordings on Betsy's answering machine matches the filing of the "Lemond vs. Trek" lawsuit on March 20, 2008.

http://www.trekbikes.com/pdf/media/en/03202008_Lemond.pdf

One interesting tidbit from this lawsuit that I did not know previously - a claim that the $500,000 payment to UCI was in fact to cover the 1999 cortisoid incident (para 54). This would have set UCI and Armstrong to be "friends for life", and would later lead to additional donations after the alleged EPO positive at Tour de Suisse in 2001, and to help pay for the Vrijman report to exonerate Lance of the 2005 retesting of the 1999 samples. Anyone still wondering why Lance's team would always get advance warnings of UCI doping tests?

Wow. That's big if the mechanic got it right. Where did the money go? Great work.

OK, so now we have this. It is sensational to say the least, but to me it's still peripheral to a degree.

There is one thing that is more important that has yet to come out, and that is another rider unequivocally the Landis accusations of organized doping on the team.

To me, and I could be wrong, proving there was an organized doping ring and that Armstrong doped his whole way through those 7 victories is what will lead the other chips to fall. It may not be the most important aspect of the investigation, but I don't think you can get to the other stuff without this very important chip falling.

I must say I feel like an idiot for falling for that whole single mother with a sick child nonsense, and thought Lemond was a slimeball for recording their telephone conversation when he said he wasn't.

Goes to show you that one should never jump to conclusions about anyone in this whole sordid mess. Funny how people are questioning the character of guys like Landis and Papp. This lady makes them look like choirboys in comparison-talk about no integrity whatsoever, sheesh.

Berzin,

I would bet serious cash that this has already happened; the feds are just keeping this close to their chest for now. Soon will know.;)

This tapes alone don’t say a lot. But like you say when presented with
the rest of the evidence it says much more. It provides context. The
tape shows McIlvain is under severe stress. Why would this be? Who is
applying the pressure? It’s not Betsey – she simply saying “just tell
the truth”. Looks to me McIlvain is being lent on from above… from her
employer?, from Armstrong himself? Her calls to Betsey to are
irrational, crazed and the talking of women who is about to implode.
These tapes are very worrying and shows the control that Armstrong had
on some people. Sure McIlvain is drunk and taking way too many
prescription drugs but why is that so? People generally sit at home
alone and drink two bottles of wine when they don’t feel good about
themselves I feel a lot of sympathy for McIlvain. By telling the truth
would have taken this stress away but then she had the pressure of
losing her job. No one should ever be put in that position. She didn’t
want to be in the hospital room and she didn’t ask for any of this –
but alas Armstrong had a habit of dragging people into his lie. I hope
this time around she has the opportunity to set the record straight
but more importantly free herself from the burden she’s carried since
2005. People may think Floyd is destroying cycling but right here he’s
giving a person the opportunity to set her self free and not be victim
to any personal or employment ramifications.

Nice to see a compassionate and thoughtfull commentry Hog.
The "bit players" in this sordid afair get a fair bit of flack but life is seldom black@ white.

Seems as though Lance or other stakeholders have more on Stehanie than just her job on the line. She's now happily married within the company? Even worse if someone has some intel on you. She may be more torn than we can imagine...

I got this from a source.

Does anyone remember the whole hoopla surrounding the list that was going to be announced before the 2009 Tour of riders that were going to be sanctioned or deemed under suspicion for bio-passport irregularities?

Remember how nothing came of it? Next thing you know, the whole issue disappeared and was never talked about again.

Well, it turns out Kloden and Leipheimer were on that list.

Knowing Armstrong's past behavior, he may indeed have all kinds of "private" intel on Stephanie. They've been together on many occasions, including perhaps some private moments. Here Stephanie & Lance sure look like a happy couple:

http://www.exposay.com/stephanie-mc...Ackerman,+Jenny+McCarthy+and+Patrick+MCIlvain

Regarding Stephanie's marital status, I posted this on the earlier McIlvaine thread:

This article says that Patrick "McIlvain is vice president of global sports marketing at Oakley, Inc. He and his wife, Stephanie, have a 10-year-old son who is autistic." So it would appear that the talk of the "poor single mom" is not accurate.

http://www.ageofautism.com/2010/04/o...ping-taca.html

Oakley is privately held so there are no official figures available, but Patrick's Linkedin profile kindly tells us here that Oakley's revenue is north of $1 billion per year.

http://www.linkedin.com/profile?view...rofile_popular

Suffice to say the Mcilvaines' are well off. No need to feel sorry for anyone at Oakley - thanks in part to Lance !

That is interesting. If true it blows the bio-passport out of the water. I feel sorry for the minnows sanctioned as they obviously didn't have the money to pay the bribe. I guess the UCI will explain it as a borderline case.

Yes, as if it was yesterday

I got this from a source.

Igor Astarloa Ascasibar (ESP)
Pietro Caucchioli (ITA)
Francesco De Bonis (ITA)
Ruben Lobato Elvira (ESP)
Ricardo Serrano Gonzalez (ESP)

But anyway, I'll keep Mr. Klöden informed about the accusation you make here. It's all about....sources :D

Levi and Kloden's names were often attached to that announcement back then. Some German media wanted to run with it and force the UCI to act. The could not get buy off from their editors so they ran the story about how Kloden's name was all over the Telekom doping report. It was later reported that some riders were recommended for sanctions by the Bio-Passport committee but the UCI refused to move forward because the riders would have put up well funded legal defenses.

The Bio-Passport kinda slows down when it comes to a certain team.

Are you with UCI? That would explain this post of yours, and many others.

Be my guest. He knows that his name was on the list, and he knows how his name disappeared from said list. His and Leipheimers'.

It doesn't work like that and you now it. :D
Thats something like the "cancerlover"-logics. Your choice.

Could it perhaps be that you are one of these lancelovers ? That would explain this post of yours, and many others.
And this works very well. :p

I usually don't come in with unnamed sources and really not much new here. but I contacted a source who worked at Oakley the source is not a cyclist and was pretty much clueless to what is going on. But this is what I gleamed.

Stephanie McIlvain- "The woman involved is a total sweetheart."
Lance Armstrong- "Armstrong was a major douche"

She may have made the wrong decision and now is not dealing with it very well.

Thats a common practise by drunk people.

I re-read the court documents from the Anderson case. The remark "Lance can make one phone call and you'll never work in the bike industry again" appears a few times. Douchebag alright. I think he enjoys beating up on people who earn substantially less than him.

That was pretty funny. :)

Drunk or no, wishing that kind of ill on someone speaks loud and clear. Sometimes alcohol is nothing more than truth serum!

Whether or not Betsy or McIlvain either one, are "sweethearts"... who knows? But they and a whole host of others will definitely find out just who their friends are in all this. More importantly, they'll find out who they thought were their friends. You know, the ones that disappear or become outright hostile when the chips are down? I'm certain Landis knows a thing or two about this.

Interesting thread, in a soap opera train wreck sort of way.
