Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team chose their riders for the final race of Challenge Mallorca: Trofeo Tramuntana.

"Tomorrow for the last test of the Challenge we are lining up three fresh riders at the start like Jerome Pineau, Michal Kwiatkowski and Serge Pauwels who we'll put up next to Kevin De Weert, Dries Devenyns, Tony Martin, Dario Cataldo, Kristof Vandewalle and Peter Velits," said Team Trainer Tom Steels. "The goal is to try to be protagonists again."

Trofeo Tramuntana is a 160.2 km race, and for certain a climber's course. There are two category 3 climbs, two category 2 climbs, and a category 1 climb that includes 935 meters of elevation gain for a handful of kilometers.

Tomorrows stage looks quite similar to today's, but even harder. Nordhaug should have a good chance to double up, but will probably be a much more marked man tomorrow. Either way, the strongest guy will probably win as it's up and down all day, culminating in an ascend up the hardest side of Puig Major.

tomorrow henao will take it,very hard stage

Cuddles is back tommorrow ready to crush the field! If not it will be Matthias Frank who does the damage but he may be tired from the breakaway today.

I don't know, the big climb is long but less than 6% average, and there are still 20km to the finish from the top. I think either Valverde or Rojas will win in a sprint from a group of 10-15 riders.

Nordhaug was interviewed by cyclism actu after the race today and said:

Comes a bit out of leftfield.

That has got to be a mistake. Maybe he meant Ardennes, or something got lost in translation?

Think leftfield in that case means 'out of surprise' . He didn't expect to win or be that strong.

Yup, will be lost in translation, he doesn't appear in the announced lineups for any cobbles races yet for Sky.

Speaking of which, any ideas why Froome was in the announced line-up but hasn't ridden any of the Mallorca races yet?

Not sure about Froome. Perhaps he is only there to provide fresh legs for the final race tomorrow.

On Nordhaug, I suppose it must be lost in translation. Although it did cross my mind that the new Flanders route might not suit some of the usual cobbled specialists.

On Froome, maybe it's just too cold for him.

from what i've heard the new route of flanders is more like for an ardennes guy who doesn't crash easy,a rebellin or a vino has more chances than boonen or devolder.but we'll see that day.

Yeah, Thomas Dekker did the recon with the team and said it's almost become a hilly classic.

Thanks, although "slightly irritating" is a big understatement! :p

Yea, i have been saying this all along, it's strange that cycling videos comes with ridiculous music on them.

According to some reports today's race could be cancelled due to snow and weather concerns. :(

Source?

According to Biciciclismo the organizers are looking for an alternative route, or it will be shortened.

Some riders and race directors have been saying on twitter such as Michael Sayers (BMC).
