No, i was really talking about Simon Yates winning this race.
I am not sure del toro is the strongest in this race.

I'm asking myself will Del Toro be a Damiano Cunego or Simon Yates? He has looked perky, but I can't decide if he can win before a proper mountain stage (Tuesday). But he looked really good today for sure.

Del Toro is obviously the big favorite at this point, although there's some uncertainty about him.
On paper, Ayuso is the first challenger, but he has looked unimpressive lately, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him finish outside the podium.
Carapaz I actually think is the second biggest favorite. He's going so well at the moment and his engine is just getting warm.
S. Yates and Gee have no chance of winning as their level just isn't good enough, but I wouldn't be surprised to see either on the podium. Same can be said for Arensman except for the podium part.
Bernal looks good but I don't think he has the stamina. He seems to run out of gas pretty quickly.
It's a shame that Tiberi lost time yesterday, as he has looked very solid, and if the win was unrealistic before, it's impossible now.
Roglic looks horrible, and I don't see a comeback coming. Top 10 is likely, but a DNF is more likely.

Yep, pro bike racing has always been a cruel bastard. If his body allows for it, Roglic should target a stage win.

I bloody love Richard Carapaz so I want him to win. I feel the same about Bernal but Carapaz is much better placed in GC.
We don't know enough about del Toro to have any idea how he will fair in this final week, but I suspect Ayuso may have a wobble somewhere along the way.

I voted for Gee so I've done my part. (I'd be very excited if Del Toro or Carapaz won though, while I'm pulling for him I'm not sure Bernal is quite there yet.)

Del Toro looks strong right now. Wish I could say Roglic but he will probably abandon after this tought week.
There are enough tough mountain stages left, and nobody both looks amazing, and has delivered in a 3rd week in the past.
It could be any one of 8 or 9. The last week could be phenomenal enough to make us forget the absolute dross that preceeded it.

I voted for carapaz after stage 3 and for probably the first time ever I do not need to change my vote between rest days. That's how bad my predictions normally are. Vamos Richie!!!

I just can't see del toro faltering with his latest performances. Unless he screws something with the feeding due to getting overexcited. But he's dancing on the pedals covering all these attacks with such ease.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Pogacar taking on DS role and del Toro winning stage 16, 19 & 20 ;-)

So far Del Toro looks very promising as a main favorite but it's going to be the hardest 3rd week of the Giro in years.

Interesting, why would he? Would be odd for a GC contender without illness or major injury (that I know of at time of this writing) to abandon? He seems like a pretty tough guy, doesn't strike me as his style to abandon like that.

I've changed my vote three times now.
The terrain changes very significantly in the third week, this with several extremely brutal mountain stages, where there is still everything to fight for and riders can fall completely through the bottom if they try too hard.
So I'll be extremely reluctant to judge by the outcome of the first two weeks. Apart from those that haven't been that cautious to save something in the bag.
With the current position and the GC species, I can't see anything but that some things will be turned remarkable upside down in the table.
Del Toro's young eagerness for the first two weeks will cost him dearly if he gets involved in early excursions with a Carapaz-type excursion, or continues with the quick defense of small dots of 10s here and 15 there in small knuckle punch tests.
I never thought I would write this, but in that company Ayusu looks the most calculating.
And it's way too early to count Rogla out for a high podium.
There will be accounts behind the fortresses of endurance, which will be ruthlessly opened and closed.

Based on some statements from the team manager and his statement after the stage I believed he is feeling from all those crashes. He had difficulty even following his own teammate so I guessed this is due to some injuries. In this scenario I don't see a point to fight for top 10 if next GT is really a goal for him. Anyway team will probably give some info after the rest day.
