Good route overall but it could use extra 20km. Monuments should always be 260/270 km, it's an endurance test not a normal race
Agree with this.

Advice on where to be on the parcours this year? I would normally go to the Muro but Civiglio and San Fermo looks good as well.

The only advantage of the Muro is you will see riders for a bit longer, but nothing will really happen there I think. Civiglio seems nice. If there are moves in Sormano you'll still see a shattered race.

I was planning to go there for a week, but decided not to because I was sure the route would be the same as last year. Oh well.

Well, after Lombardia. So that should be out of the equation on whether he will perform here or not.

This profile doesnt really show the difficulty of the crucial climbs. Ghisallo is 2nd category, Sormano 1st, Civiglio 2nd and SFdB probably the only 4th category climb. On the profile they don't seem to be that difficult. However its a pity that before Ghisallo there is nothing really interesting.

I was on San Fermo four years ago when it was last climbed in Il Lombardia. The weather was absolutely *** and I went home completely wet.

A dark horse will win this. Somone like Uran or Costa will attack like Dan Martin did on the final descent last year.

And I want it to be dry. Lombardia is much more beautiful than it is in the rain.

I would love if Urán won. Think he could have been WC already would it not be that ridiculous crash coming down the Fiesole. He looked so strong.

And who's that on your avatar, Logan Owen?

With Froome, Porte and Thomas all having ended their season, I'm wondering who Sky will bring as their leader.

I have always thought that Wout Poels would have been perfect for this kind of race. He is made for one-day races imo. His win in Tirreno-Adriatico and Pais Vasco were on similar terrain. A hilly road with a climb followed by a descent in the finish.

He lacks the bike riding skills needed for one day races.

He just need to be better at handling long races. He is explosive, risk-taking and good downhill.

He has the potential to ride those kind of races. Liege, San Seb and Lombardia.
