Reckon Chavez got a mechanical - You don't recover that quickly with a mechanical - What could have been for Chavez !

Yep, for sure. I think he dropped a chain. You could see him looking down when he dropped off the group. Not pedalling and nearly stopped.

this * race is not a monument. so weak competition, lombardia at these days, looks more like the nationals

pinot in third... this tell you everything

Can you elaborate?

Pinot did a great race, hopefully he'll get a little bit more respect on this forum. He lacked the juice in the final 5K, but at least he tried. He attacked, responded to attacks, he was very strong. Hats off to Nibbles. Great win for him.

Totally agree. With amatours the likes of Valverde, Kwiatowski, Gilbert... such a weak field.
they aren't in top shape

They are coming from the Worlds, where they were 2nd tier favorites. The reason the 1st tier favorites don't show up is because they wouldn't stand a chance in hell in this race.

You're talking about Lombardia? Which 1st tier favorites are not here? Purito and ....... ?

That was my first thought - Cost Chavez a podium.

I think Chaves was the strongest uphill.

pinot is just a good climber... he hasn't technique, no killer instinct. he will never make a top 3 in a gt (unless top favourites fall), in liege, he will not ever make a top5
