Weak break so far, usually not a good sign.

Sometimes it's as if the weaker teams don't even try to make it hard for the strong teams. If you don't have a clear favourite send someone up the road... you never know.
Certainly not if all the weaker teams think like that, they might be able to send a pretty large breakaway up the road which will make life hard for the strong teams.

Is there a reason why Il Lombardia is the only monument run on a Saturday?
Milan Sanremo is also raced on a Saturday. Maybe cause it clashes with football?
yes, historically football was only played on Sunday in Italy... now that there are games everyday doesn't make much sense though.
Aren't the Saturday matches usually in the evenings?

It used to be Saturday for Italian classics because a long time ago all football games where played on Sunday afternoon.
That was the rationale at least.
Of course that isn't the case anymore, but there you go.

Serie A, yes. But afaik Serie B (the second division) plays on Saturday afternoon now.
Regardless, at the moment on Sunday afternoon there are like 4 games, with usually no big teams. Either way, they did try to hold MSR and Lombardia on Sunday a few years ago, but apparently they didn't like it and reverted back.

There's an international break this weekend too, so doesn't really matter now.

I will never understand why Germany u17 v Costa Rica u17 is of more importance to Eurosport than one of the 6 biggest one day races in cycling.

Apparently there were some attacks in the peloton and there is now a group with De Plus, Torres, Grivko, Roglic, Chérel, Caruso, Polanc and Herrada ahead of the peloton by 30 seconds or so. That's more like it! No real contenders, but a dangerous group if they get some leeway.

EDIT: apparently Roglic is leading the group with a fierce pace and only De Plus and Chérel are following.

Anyway, some chaos up the road with some decent riders attacking, hopefully a good group can stick and put the favourites group under a bit of pressure.

Me neither. And unfortunately you can't post stuff on the (Danish at least) FB page anymore, only reply to their posts, and since they never make posts about cycling...
"Home of Cycling", yeah right.

Anyway, looks like Roglic has gone way up to the front.

Nevermind about the last part of my previous comment.
Cherel, Le Tousinier (can't spell), and De Plus is in the front.

Action, they're on the descent from Ghisalo, some 15 riders up the road, saw Roglic there, one Movie, two UAE, small peloton chasing.

I thought that the riders were on the flat roads before Ghisallo. ES missing one of the most important places of cycling history. Ghisallo is like the Arenberg of Lombardia.
