The article mentions the Movistar riders who are supposedly going to lead instead of Valverde.
they didn't mix up anything. It just was a story purely based on the provisional start list sent out by the organisation, which didn't have Valverde on it.

Neither was Woods on yesterday's provisional start list, for example, and he still won the race. Often they are sent in weeks in advance by the teams, and can be completely changed without a problem (until 72 hours before the race, at least) anyway.

But anyone with half-a-brain would assume Valverde will ride Lombardia that moment when he showed up in Giro dell'Emilia.

This raises the following question:

Why would Movistar not have Valverde on the provisional start list?

A fun Italian article about Roglic (use Google translate):
Fans # 84 - Don't call it (him?) Robocop

From the article:
"At the Giro d'Italia I discovered that for the Italian public, Roglic was considered as a kind of robot, a cold computer from the East to win the Pink Race against our boys. An imagery constructed artfully by Rai commentators is not yet known for what strange reason, whether due to ignorance or the need for storytelling. In any case, given that most of the public in Italy watch the Giro d'Italia on Rai and given the little knowledge that the Italian public generally has of what happens abroad, the image of Roglic as Ivan Drago has depopulated everywhere. And it surprised me a lot, since in writing the first article that I dedicated during the Tour de France 2018 I had the impression of being in front of a very shy and emotional boy, determined yes but still inexperienced and disoriented in this new world in which he had just begun to enter. "

They see me roglin', they hatin'... now even Woods calls "robocop Roglic" a fav for Lombardia. https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/woods-tips-robocop-roglic-as-a-favourite-for-il-lombardia/

A lot of talk about Roglic but Woods been really good too this week so far. Was with Fuglsang and Formolo for a long time in Liege in the final, until Fuglsang was gone with the incredible form he had that time.

I dont know if Civiglio really suits Roglic and with the descent. He had trouble in Giro on these roads. Oh, and its a longer race this time than the other races this week. Even though he has been very impressive, I dont think he will win. I wouldnt be too unhappy if he did win though :)

Civiglio is perfectly fine for Roglic. Not great but no problem at all either. He was only 10s behind on Nibali in the Giro despite not being his absolute best. Muro di Sormano is great for him too.

I imagine Roglic can wait for San Fermo if he's confident.

No Quintana it seems.

I'd honestly be surprised if everyone other than Roglic wins. Just look at the Jumbo team.

And I'm not sure the 39 year old version of Valverde can outsprint him after a hard race.

Yates, Fuglsang, Bernal, Woods, Valverde and Nibali are all candidates for a victory but secondary favorites.
