IT'S NEVER VALVERDE'S FAULT!Key point in the race. They had already botched it but still had a decent shot until that moment. All they had to do is keep rotating through but the second one person doesn't it's all over.

Well he did wait until Masnada was about half a minute ahead before it occurred to him that Quickstep weren't going to work any more and that he was the only one with a teammate in the group who also happened to be the pre-race favouriteVingegaard did what he could. Why does he qualify as an idiot?

watch it back...I can't stand valverde in these positions but it was Bardet who f**ed it for the rest of the group todayIT'S NEVER VALVERDE'S FAULT!
Roglic was still good on a bad day, just not in stomping form. I think he made a peak a few days ago. Pogi was still working on peaking then.Impressive by Pogacar to just ignore Masnada and continue keeping the tempo high. I think a lot of riders would have begun quarreling and lost a lot of time there, jeopardising the win. He was a little lucky that it was such a snail that joined him, though.
A pity that Roglic was on a bad day.
Tbh all of them were morons for just letting Masnada get away.
I have to say as big Fausto fan, Pogacar did the final climb tactically perfect.Impressive by Pogacar to just ignore Masnada and continue keeping the tempo high. Henri Pelissier was 23 winning MSR in 1912, after Lombardia in 1911!Youngest rider to win two monuments in a season ?
Exactly! I mean, they really could have easily written back to him in no time. They just gave up because Tad is a nice guyTbh all of them were morons for just letting Masnada get away.
He really doesn't seem to have a bad bone in his body. Such a likeable guy.Wow! The way Rogla smiled when they said "Pogacar". As if he was as happy with Pog winning as himself. That really got to me!
Yup. He didn’t even really attack, he was just doing his turn. If they’d followed Masnada’s wheel, he might have even brought them into range with Pog by the bottom, and then it’s a different race (which Pog would also probably still win).Tbh all of them were morons for just letting Masnada get away.
"You lucky you win the races eh cause you suck at CN popularity contests eh"He really doesn't seem to have a bad bone in his body. Such a likeable guy.
I like that we in an era where the GT riders wins monuments. How it used to be
Oh, it's his fault plenty but not nearly as much as you like to claim. He rode like an idiot today, the same as just about everyone in that group. But when they looked like they were going to actually make up for it, it wasn't him who ruined the cohesionIT'S NEVER VALVERDE'S FAULT!
Bramati needs shooting after today. Don Patrick might just see to that.Tbh I also have no idea what DQS was thinking apart from trying to secure 2nd place. Alaphilippe certainly wasn't riding to pressure Pogacar into doing too much work or to give himself much of a shot.
Group simply also wasn't helped by being led by the weakest descender and rider in that group with Vingegaard. They had the least reason to ride too with Roglic having an off day agian as well.
But I do think Valverde was the main culprit here. He was right on the wheel of Masnada when he went and just thought "nope!" even though he was the best sprinter left apart from Alaphilippe and Roglic, who just didn't have the legs to win today.
He should have realised a long time ago that his good sprint requires him to take more responsibility.
I am completely with Netserk on this one.
I think basically that getting top 2 in any of the semi classics before Lombardia should disqualify you from leadership opportunity. In conclusion, neither Van Aert nor Evenepoel should have been leader at the WCC!
