Only rider that had more than one try today. Deserved top 5 place
Betancur?
Anyway Zaka is ready. First he'll fight in Romandie for the win and then I'm sure he'll be up there in the Giro, too.
He meant the only mortal

Zakharin looks to be in form - could get a top 5 or even a top 3 at Romandie.

Spilak will probably be the team leader for Romandie, this year Ilnur is peaking for the Giro.
He looked really strong, he'll be ready for the Giro.

- The team helped me a lot today. So in the final, I decided to try to be as close to the front as possible, because there was a possibility of some late crashes and it could provoke any splits in the group and as a consequence there could be time gaps. I think this result gives me more motivation. Normally if I sprint well, my form is ok, - said team captain Ilnur Zakarin.

Doesn't sound like a guy who is preparing the Giro.

I find it peculiar that his style of riding is much like Froome with the elbows out. Only less looking at stems :D

Haha yep I've noticed that too :p

Have to say he seems like he could definitely be ready for this Giro, but I don't see him on the level of Valv, Nibbles and certainly not the legend that is Esteban Chaves. Also doubts over his 3-week capabilities in the vein of Porte or indeed his Katusha mate Spilak. But hopefully it's a test for him here and definitely in mix for a stage win from break, etc, like last year or this year in Paris-Nice, if he isn't ready for GC yet.

Great riding today, too bad for the *** jury decision. Now he needs to destroy Quintana in the TT which shouldn't be an impossible task.

Really interested in what he's gonna do at the GC this Giro

I would say that he can win it but now I am left wondering if he has peaked too soon and is burning matches too close to the Giro.

He deserved to win today. Hope he gets his revenge on the little Colombian whiner very soon
He didn't deserve it, for doing a stupid and unnecessary maneuver. And stop your racism against Colombians!

If you actually knew me after all this time, you'd know I like Colombians, also liked Q. But not now. Today he is a whiner, and joins the club of whiners who I do not like.

So kindle get off and stop playing the racism card. It's racist you do so.

If being a whiner was the issue, there was no need to add little and Colombian. Quintana is not a whiner, he wants to win the race by the rules, bonus points count too.

Agree 100%. Zakarin only has himself to blame after what would have been a secure victory, had he not made his maneuver.

After today's performance there is a slight danger that Zakarin might be too good too early when Giro is considered.

But if he still is 2-3 weeks away from his peak, then he is a truly frightening prospect for the Giro.

I'm not the biggest Zakarin fan to be quite honest, and I do think he deserved to get relegated, but I will be hugely impressed if he claws back the deficit tomorrow. He won last year's ITT is memory serves me, does tomorrow's TT resemble last year's?

Nevermind, I see that he finished 3rd last year. It's going to be fun tomorrow regardless.

Nevermind, I see that he finished 3rd last year with a bike change. It's going to be fun tomorrow regardless.

Fixed that for you
