Somebody should tell him that the Giro is taking place in Italy and that he is now in Switzerland. And that it starts next week. And that the second part is harder. Or maybe Zak can hold his peak for whatever amount of time he's told to do so.

Either he's once in a lifetime talent, or his GT potential is just Katusha's gimmick.
I don't believe he can race shoulder to shoulder with Nibali a month after doing the same with Quintana.
But if he somehow manages, he should target the triple next season.

He knows it.

Even if he's reached the Big 3 level of GT riding, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to prepare this way if you're really trying to win the Giro

Hard not to agree. With a guy like Konyshev in the car it won't make things easier.

Russian Froome. Awful riding style, but any aggresive ride is a good ride.

I'm still having a hard time liking him, maybe it will come.

it depends, some people as Valverde is giving now everything at a big shape, as usual on him ,and Landa won Trentino. If he can or not to be podium of the Giro is not question of what he do in Romandie. and Romandie is an important race, an every stage victory counts.

Trentino and LBL are very much unlike the Romandie when it comes to how clever it is do them if you plan to fight for the Giro.

But then I suppose the Hayman miracle demonstrated that one can seemingly win the biggest races without any preparation, so perhaps the same can be done when entering them with fatigue.

Experience? Zakarin still has to prove his abilities over 3 weeks.

I really have to stop listening to all the hype... I thought it was almost a sure thing Zakarin would be better than Quintana today, but not even close.

Also, I find it extremely hypocritical to hate Froome for the usual things (riding style, came out of nowhere, etc, etc), but love Zakarin.

The first was a tragedy, the second a comedy.

If Ilnur had come before Froome - and was part of a new wave like the British one, with a Russian Wiggo etc. and if Froome only had as much success as Zakarin, then I'm sure the reactions would be reversed as well.

How are we supposed to cope with the absurdity, if not with laughter?

Theres a reason noone in the cycling world gets as much hate as Chris Froome gets, did you see last years tdf? (before you go bananas im not saying he deserves it, not at all) Just as theres a reason for people who want to like Zakarin have a hard time actually doing it :p

Looking at his ITT today, what a weird riding style: all over the road, suspect trajectories, head going side to side, yikes. Big engine of course...but what a questionable bike handling...

Yeah, but on the other hand he looked like a great descender on the Imola stage durning the 2015 Giro.

Konyshev said that he's not at his best yet, so he should be even better at the Giro.

He didn't have the best feeling, his condition already should be near or at his best. If not, then be prepared. :p
