Here we have insight into the mind of a fanboy. They are infatuated with the alpha-male personality type for some reason. Natural sheeple. Followers, not leaders.

Hey, I admit my faults.

I like guys who talk trash and back it up more then guys who just quietly kick ****.

Doesn't mean I don't respect the latter... I do. I have the utmost respect for guys like Indurain or Contador that quietly destroy a field. I just don't tend to cheer for them. I don't know why.

Now I don't like guys who talk trash and fail... like Lance is doing now.

It goes for other sports too. For example, in swimming a few Olympics back there was a guy named Gary Hall, Jr who swam the 50 freestyle. He wore US flag boxing shorts to the pool deck, did a little boxing routine before races... then won. One of my favorite atheletes... much more so then a guy like Michael Phelps. Tom Dolan had a similar personality... cocky and brash... but backed up with talent. Michael Jordan was that way when playing basketball.

The flip side is when these guys failed... they took all the hit on themselves as well. If Lance were doing that I'd be more of a fan. I still kind of want him to do okay simply due to nationalism... but I'd prefer if another US rider won the Tour... or another guy that I like such as Kreuziger or Wiggins.

I thought it would be funny last year if Contador said as he went past Armstrong "hey, Pops!"

That would be great too. Or even if he did the "pistolero" thing at Lance just before he attacked.

I'm with you on the trash talking and backing it up bit. Why I like Floyd Mayweather, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

Oh come on, what's wrong with him sharing with us what he's written before? I've never read his blog and it seems perfectly reasonable and accurate for him to introduce the material as something he wrote for his blog in the past.

Upon waking up this morning,I did my usual routine of checking race results and was suprised that Cadel won Fleche. But even more of a suprise was that A.C placed third. At this point I checked Twitter feed on the race and Wow the response from Americans was pure Joy that cadel outsprinted A.C in the last hundred yards, and how AC wasnt worth a damn. So my question is,Did LA JB and Versus do THAT good of a job Demonizing this Polite Young man, who it seems to me honors The true spirit of cycling by contesting every race he is in, EVEN if it doesnt suit his strengths.Meanwhile If Lance wins or even Podiums in A Semi-pro race Like Gila Everone will blow their load on how great he is What gives Man!

First of all - you did not watch the race live?
You missed a good one sleepy head.

Second, most Americans have never even HEARD of Alberto.
He could drive his FingerBangMobile all over America
and be virtually unrecognized.

And BTW, Alberto DOES have many many American Cycling Fans.
Just look at this CYCLING forum. PLENTY of Alberto Fans.

Now it IS true that many RadioShack fans hate on Alberto.
In the same way SF Giant Fans hate on the Dodgers.

That is normal Sports Fan Hate.

And anyway, Alberto is such a weaktitdickhead.

PS.....Hamm34....I need to update your RadioShack PowerHouse Thread.
Chris made Top10 today. First in his age group woohoo!

Yes, but refering to his blog (and his posts and his threads, etc.) as the truth is a bit narsicistic, hence the self love comment.

Twitter is full of sad people who think their opinion matters. hardly worth checking out or taking serious

+111. Most serious cyclists think Contador is the sh*t and deserves all the positive press that can be generated. That the Chief Twit has co-opted some of the dialogue is largely to build an adversarial relationship in the press. This is for media drama and increased exposure for the Twit. It really has less to do with Conta and more to do with prolonged exposure for LA.

A lot of this is a cynical ploy by the media to create rivalry and controversy. It is no different than the media puffing up Armstrong's performance last year when it was clear that he was nowhere near the level of riders like Contador and Andy Schleck. See the Giro for the most extreme example of this.

The Americans who hate Contador appear to be dyed in the wool Armstrong manlovers who usually know little about the sport.

I'm relatively new to cycling so please correct me if I'm wrong but my impression was that Lance was the most tested cyclist... Ever. Tested way more than the normal elite cyclist. Since I've not heard anything about Contador being tested to an insane amount, I assumed (that word will kill me someday:)) that he was tested at a normal amount for an elite cyclist. So my point is that since there has been no major controversy about a clean AC, he is tested less.

You are wrong. That is a claim made by Armstrong and his PR machine. It has little to no relation to REALITY. In fact, prove it if you believe otherwise.

I respect Contador's ability and marvel at how he rides... but frankly I'd like him more if he were a bit more of a showoff.

I don't know why... it doesn't match what I look for in people I want to associate with personally... but I've always enjoyed watching riders who show off a bit. I liked watching Ricco pre-drugs... he'd almost seem to taunt people when attacking. I did like "the look" from Lance... saying without words "I'm going to beat you... right NOW!". I like a lot of what I've seen about Hinault (didn't watch him in person). And I like Cav's arrogance as well.

To be honest, if Contador went to the first climb of the tour... pedaled up next to Lance and said out loud "Let's go Fatso", then took off up the road... I'd join his fan club in a heartbeat.

You knew Ricco as a baby?

Take a look at the postings in this thread

http://forums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?t=209568

to get an idea of how a lot of North Americans view Contador.

We have been force fed the Armstrong view of the world - sadly, people believe it.

He was robbed last year you know, he should have won the Tour and would have if it weren't for Contador riding better ............

Details.

Dude, RBR is representative of nothing but a bunch of morons who don't offend the moderators with anything that resembles a challenge to the Armstrong myth. You cannot brand any of us because of them. That is like saying Stormfront represents the typical American view of race.

Okay... definite point.

Perhaps "Ricco pre-suspension" would be more appropriate. And I'm not saying I won't like watching him post suspension either... but once you're caught using drugs, there's something... off... about trash talk.

of course he is the most tested cyclist ever because he's also the oldest cyclist. contador gets just as many tests a year as lance gets

I'm not american, I'm basically fairly neutral on Contador, but his fanboys excesses make me want to see him fail - that and I hope he never finished above second so I never have to see that ridiculous pistol shot cr@p ever again. I don't think that wish will be fulfilled somehow.

Both LA and AC are great bike racers,I always think LA talks better than he rides his bike. What I mean is Lance Armstrong is a bit of a boring cyclist.Alberto Contador seems a boring person but a exciting cyclist.

LA talks big but I don't think he is an inspires me by the way he rides his bike. His team destroy themselves for his benefit, yes he is a brilliant racer would he have won in 89 and 92 like Lemond with weak teams?

Contador is better to watch, much more natural talent. He also attacks more, and when he does its really exciting.I think AC is a fiery person and really only shows it when he rides his bike.

I just get the impression that LA is making his come back for money.Your a long time retired, how else can he make millions? Its coming to that time when Lance Armstrong will have to race against AC in the tour.

Its just around the corner now,if LA does not do well I wonder what the folks in the US will think. The American public don't like people who make bold statments and fail completly. That could easily happen,Evans Sastra Contador Schleck and even Wiggins will be tough to beat.

If LA comes 6th or worse he will never play that down, given his 3th place last year and the fact he has a new team.He has a very strong team and AC has a much weaker team. The 2010 TdF will be a very interesting race indeed

This is what has put me off buying pedal with ti spindles. I am well under the weight limits but snapping spindle could end very badly. Maybe I am paranoid. I remember lots of ti stuff breaking back in the day.

Yeah, I never buy the ti spindles. Plus the cost to weight savings ratio is through the roof.

It's not like it's my cycling equipment holding me back anyway.
