I'm stuck with Haimar Zubeldia...

On the plus side though I also share dates with Clarence Seedorf, Ireen Wust (two time Olympic champion for the non-Dutch), Bismarck, Gogol, Rachmaninoff, Milan Kundera, Toshiro Mifune (star of a lot of Kurosawa's best films) and others... Sports, politics, culture. Us April Fools have got it made :p
Those who have the honour of sharing mine: Walt Whitman, Clint Eastwood, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Bert Haanstra, Ivo Niehe , and Robert Gesink obviously.

For me it's Victoria Beckham. Oh the shame.

People, this is about Gesink, not your bithdays. Now if Gesink came to your birthday, it would be a different topic and would be on-topic ;)

Yeah, perhaps you're right. I didn't read the entire thread, just saw the last page.

(But i don't really take it too serious, in case you hadn't noticed that ;))

I dont know who i share my birthday with, but Obamas birthday is a day after mine. Good to know that my birthday is just a day before that of the messiah. I feel blessed.

This thread is a bit unfair and has gone offtopic. I think it should be the Official Robert Gesink thread. Thereby making him the least important person to have his own thread on this forum ;):p

Extremely talented bike rider and I'm sure he will have some big wins in the future, but to me he just comes across as 'soft'. Loses races on descents, crashes a lot, and has a thousand excuses.

Maybe soft is not the right word to use, but there is something about him that I can't put my finger on.

i think he has learned something since this thread started. it seems like it to me. and good on him.

He never looks for excuses, don't know where you got that impression. Quite the opposite, actually.

And as for his being soft... meh, don't know. The team doctor said in an interview that most riders prefer to take a painkiller before a TT, but not Gesink: he likes the pain. Also, he rode 75 kms with a broken wrist in that Tour stage. And he still managed to finish the Vuelta in 6th, with that horrible hole in his knee.

Still sums up thread and it was the third post.
