There you have it, or is Benotti now also a liar?

And, per forum rules, no trolling/baiting etc etc.

I wouldn't go as far as to call him a liar - but his recollection is very often incorrect.

Moreover - he was at an event that he "heard" something, you on the other hand were not.
So, a source and link for JV telling Walsh that Sky was clean.

as i said, it's been linked, so not sure why your posting this rule.
perhaps what you're saying is that posters with longer memory should be wasting their precious time reposting links to aid posters with shorter memory?

I am not interested in what you "said" - post not poster, right?

I am interested in what you claim, and as there are (tens of) links I see no reason why we need to rely on your "memory", except that you can now use it to find the actual link that quotes what you claim.

Walsh and JV reading from the same script?????

WALSH "If you held a gun to my head and asked, 'Are Sky clean?' I'll say, 'Yes,'" says David Walsh, a respected journalist for London's The Sunday Times who is embedded with the team this season. "And when you pull the trigger and there's the click of an empty chamber, I'll say, 'Whew, thank God!'"

http://espn.go.com/sports/endurance...-andrew-talansky-tour-de-france-espn-magazine

VAUGHTERS...put it to you this way. If you put a gun to my head and say, is Chris Froome clean or is Chris Froome not? You get it wrong and the bullet goes off, right? My expectation would be that I would hear “click” and the bullet wouldn’t go off. But would I be f—ing wincing beforehand? Yes.

Thats a new script - very different from the "JV told Walsh Sky are clean" script.

If someone made a transcript of the "Whistleblowers' evening in the Bórd Gáis theatre and posted it online it could be linked. But Walsh, when questioned about Sky being clean, said that JV told him he believed in Sky and Walsh said that was a big factor in Walsh's opinion of Sky.

Dr. Maserati said:
JV says he believes in Froome, not with total confidence.
Walsh says he believes in Sky, not with total confidence.

They were both asked yes or no. They introduced the gun analogy. They both replied yes.

JV has a vested interest in cycling appearing to have changed from a doping sport to a cleanER one. That is never more apparent than this year and the problems securing sponsors.

Walsh, well he has imo thrown out the baby with the bath water.

In past years for Walsh when riders are climbing faster than proven dopers it was a sure sign of doping but when Sky do it, it is not.

Years? Riders?

Multiple, this is good news.

I know he said about Ras/AC in 07. Which I put down to a one off and also knowing that he knew Ras was doping because he had published an earlier piece about him smuggling a doping product from the USA.

But now that it is more than once, this does indeed suggest he views rider speeds as very important - I look forward to links for same.

That is multiple.
Now if you are saying it is based solely on 2007 then clear that up.
If it is multiple years, link it.

Walsh used the term "the leaders" in the Macleans interview.

http://www.macleans.ca/canada/features/article.jsp?content=20070727_150415_8508&page=1

"the leader" = Multiple.

He also had this to say

" it’s a kind of a sick world. I watch it and then I don’t feel good having watched. I wish I had the discipline to completely switch off."

"...a sick world" = many multiples.

Do you think when he referred to it as a "sick world" he meant only 2007 since he knew about all about '99 - '05?

Or does he have to spell it out exactly or can we make an informed opinion about what he means?

So you think when Walsh saw Landis's stage 17 in 2006 he didn't say to himself yep "sick world"?

I bet he did. But i bet we wont find a link to it.

Not everything requires a link.

That you always require a link from sniper, the sceptic myself and one or 2 others demonstrates your selective trolling.

That incident with Whitney had taken place in 2002...so the link between Ras and the doping was from five years before the 2007 tour...so Walsh rightly assumed Ras had continued doping...
HOWEVER, Froome beat the times of known dopers this year and also beat multiple known dopers himself...guys, like Ras, we know doped...you see where I am going here...consistency....

None of that has to do with speeds - another reminder of what you said:
"In past years for Walsh when riders are climbing faster than proven dopers it was a sure sign of doping but when Sky do it, it is not."

So, I have allowed you the opportunity to clear this up - you have failed to do so and are now deflecting.

And then you expect anyone to take what you "heard" Walsh say in Dublin at face value? The answer is no.

Fact is that Walsh told me something very similar - that one of the main reasons he initially believed in Wiggins was down to Vaughters...so weak but anyway.

Not deflecting Walsh called it a "sick world". Still is with Sky leading the vomiting. Because Walsh works for TeamSky's major sponsor he is not allowed to call it as he sees it.

That you continue split hairs on a flea like this is some kind of court is trolling.

Would you like me to dig up my sentiments from earlier??

If Walsh was asked - "what do you use to assume someone is doping?" and he replied that the only thing he used was speed then you have a point.

He doesn't.
And you know this. I have seen your twitter conversations and interactions. He has not set a platform and uses many different points. Not unlike how I make my own opinions - and yet my conclusions are different.
That it does not fit your view is not his problem.

Then report it.

And the next time you claim something without linking or attributing it, I will report it. Got it? Good.

Vaughters has so much to anwser for...

What a numpty.

Not a numpty, a businessman protecting his product. Same as Sky are doing, Walsh is part of protecting that product.

Walsh called it a "sick world" when a rider of Leinders was leading the TdF, but when one of Leinders riders who rides for Walsh's bosses team is doing the same it is ignored and all has been healed in the world of cycling.

Armstrong should've got Sky to sponsor comeback 2.0 :D

True!

Vaughters didn't admit to doping for 10 years to protect his product.

Same applies here.

It is what it is.

^lighten up, ffs.

Why should I?

There have been 70 posts in a little over 13 hours - why? Some new information, some new viewpoint?

No - because someone wondered how much Walsh was being paid from an event - that a quick google search showed was free.

Then the usual arguments kicked in - many also false, that you and others continue to spout and fail to link.

Abandon the thread instead of clogging it up?

David Walsh is a good guy and I certainly respect his right to an opinion, and his ability to call it as he see's it. He is in a better position than anyone here.

Has he made mistakes, sure. Do I agree with some of his conclusions, nope.

But it is disgraceful that a mob is allowed to continue to bash him with baseless accusations, and by twisting his and everyone else's word. And if I "abandon" the thread, as you wish - then they will continue to post their bias and misinformation.

They stop making stuff up, I will stop correcting it.
