Remco is the new Gert Steegmans sounds like a thing now
Wouldn't even be surprised if his first GT stage win ends up coming from drifting off the front at a kilometre to go in a Vuelta sprint stage later this year.

Riding GC you've got to hide and save as much as possible, these high effort bursts add up by the time the big mountains come.

If he's using this race as training for Ardennes then fair enough, it makes sense to test himself.

Nice teamwork but honestly if Remco is serious about being a GC rider he needs to stop doing stuff like this
Doing things like this will do nothing to hurt any quest that he has. It give him fitness, confidence, is fun, respect and appreciation by his peers. There are more positive than negatives. The only thing that could be risky is a crash. But by how fast he goes it is actually safer to be number one of the group!
If he was the number 1 favorite then I would question this but not really in his case.

I wished Ruiz of Kern Pharma would win this. He was strong.

And I thought afterwards, „Let Ala and Remco have their fun here, before they get destroyed in the Ardennes!“… :)

Probably, in LBL, Remco dropped by UAE with 40kms to go, Ala dropped by Pog with 20kms to go… ;)

The only thing a rider of his abilities shouldn't be doing is posting up in the middle of a sprint lol

Of course, Pogacar’s form never seems to drop much, but for any other rider I would say that the (almost) 3 weeks from now till LBL is a long time to hold top form. We’ll see.

And he easily won the biggest stage race of this year, the Tour of Oman!

Exactly… :)

Sadly, Masnada is not expected to ride the Ardennes. His next race obviously is the Giro.

QS for Liege are Remco, Ala, Devenyns, Serry, Bagioli and Vansevenant. The last spot, IMHO, should go to Masnada - at least to reward his performance of Lombardia 2021, where he saved QS‘s day.
