on a serious note, if he arrives in similar shape to his giro 2010 shape i don't see why he shouldn't win, but will he be able to replicate such form?

and this preparation races aren't really any indication for basso as he never performs in them anyway

a win vs non win bet is unfair for the guy betting on the win. we can make it a basso vs purito bet tho if you want.

I can definately see Basso win the Giro.

Unlike Nibali and Scarponi, he has been focused on it from the moment the route was announced, probably before.

Scarponi is seen by many as the favourite, but Basso did outclimb him in 2010. Not by much, but he did.

I know, that's why my typical offer for stuff like this is 1:4 (i.e. you have mine for 1 week if he doesn't win, I have yours for 4 weeks if he does, or 2 weeks vs 2 months). Or we can do 1:1 that he doesn't podium. Or 1 month vs 1 month that Purito finishes above him in GC

OK, we're on. Purito vs Basso in GC for one month.
We can talk specifics of the avatars to be chosen afterwards (of course it has to be cycling related, or at least not offensive, I wouldn't expect the loser of this to post with a Hitler avatar for a month )

He has a good chance because the line up is pretty weak but i root for Rujano so i got to say no

I see him performing reasonably well, but I don't think he will win. I rate Scarponi and Rujano above him on this course and at least one of them will beat him, in my opinion.

I think he has a good chance ( he has strung a few races together to help him get back to form ). If he recaptures his 2010 Giro form he will win.

I actually think he will. He doesn't look too bad at the moment, and there are barely any decisive stages in the Giro before about 12 stages are done anyway. By then his form will be there and his excellent recuperation will come into play. Scarponi will have pink for long, but crack on one of the big mountains in the final week.

Climbed well in trentino and well within himself. Basso is my tip for the Giro, it'll be the same as 2010 all over, looking ok until the 3rd week and then untouchable on stelvio.

Scarponi will play the role of Evans.

Yeah i'd say he will be really good in the third week. But Scarponi is still going to be tough to beat as he also knows how to recover and can hang with Basso on most of the climbs. I still wouldnt mind seeing Basso win though.

His Giro winning day's are past, first off he wants to win le Tour after winning the Giro already so has used it (so he says) for training or to support Nibali or to have Nibali support him at le Tour after his support at the Giro. Unless Nibali has switched with him and they're aiming for different goals this year. I think he'll take a cameo stage and then take part in pack fill 2012.

No way is Basso going to be leader at both, unless Liquigas have decided that they don't want Nibali to ride for them any more, and just fancy ****ing him off.
