An uplifting Liège-Bastogne-Liège for Fuglsang, albeit with a couple of good riders being involved in the massive crash. Fuglsang said prior to the race that he would expect to be in even better form next year, so he hasn't lost his optimism! I still have doubts that he can get back to his super shape from a couple of years ago. But maybe the achievements of old Valverde will inspire him.

He looked really good yesterday in the Mercan'Tour. I think he's still got a couple of wins left, just needs to pick and choose peaks and races.

That ISN squad was positively geriatric on the final climb. Average age of Froome (dropped at base), Woods/Fugl was what, 36.5?

Fuglsang seems to be in his best shape since... well, more or less since the Tour of Lombardia in August 2020. Where he won, while Vlasov was third. Today in Tour de Suisse it was the other way around.

Fuglsang has narrowly dodged at least four crashes in the Tour so far - quite the opposite of what usually happens for him. You kind of think that maybe he should take advantage of that and go for the GC? Israel would be very happy with a top 5, even a top 10 would be good.

In 13 GT participations his best results were a 6th and a 7th. He won't make top 10 and shouldn't waste energy with that.

First an underwhelming opening to the 2023 season by Fuglsang, and now he's out because of an infection (saddle sore I believe).

Not a good time for that at this point of his career ...

According to his instagram it's not saddle sore but inflammation in his left testicle causing swelling that's caused him to go to the hospital...yikes, get better man...I am going to go throw my Aeroad CFR in the garbage now and never ride again, BRB.

Now that’s a ball breaker.

I hope he's OK. I don't like the words "testicle" and "hospital" to be too close together.

Then you should have written the sentence like "I don't like it when the word 'testicle' is too close to the word 'hospital'". Then at least there are six words between instead of just one!! :)

Does anyone know if Fuglsang is training properly again? On pcs he has popped up on the provisional list for Ronde but I see no articles about him training or first race.

No, I haven't been able to find any info other than that his course of antibiotics was three weeks.

Fuglsang is going to miss the Ardennes classics as well. Apparently, it's still the epididymitis thing that causes the problems. At this point in his carreer, it's not the time to have longlasting problems like that.

Does he have trouble motivating himself, too?
