Some questions -

Jennie is at an age where menopause is typical (Av age 51).

If she is post Menopause? Hormone replacement therapy would be an option? Would she require a TUE?

Estradiol, testosterone and progesterone production is ceased or compromised at menopause, could these levels be manipulated by an expert blood doper?

thank you for bringing this up as an older cyclist +10 over jeanne. i raced with her a couple of times when she came to colorado. my friend living in france knows her husband and her quite well. this woman is a great hero to me. i gave up racing in my late forties. i wasn't competitive any more against elite senior riders. i never wanted to be first in the old lady category race.

So Joe,

Please explain more about this "long waiting period". 19 months of "post-plea freedom" doesn't sound like we have a prosecutor that's itching to put you away for 10 years. It sounds like there is a gentelman's agreement to keep you interested in cooperating.

Is your case evidence under seal by the court? Did L'Equipe gain access to anything the domestic press does not?

Guys, I don't know how L'Equipe got that material but obviously though they have obtained material that no US-based news outlets have. But they would've had to have gotten it from someone other than me, because there is no way I would risk "things" by unilaterally releasing evidence. That's why "The List" of 187 hasn't been published - because I'm not about to leak it while there are investigations ongoing.

Re. the 19mos - ironically enough they replaced the prosecutor recently. So 21 October is new sentencing date and I'd be appreciative of any support that folks here (or anywhere) would like to offer.

The change in administration in Washington is percolating through the various US Districts. There is a case I'm actively following where the apple may fall on the wrong side of the fence due to personnel changes in a particular US Attorney's Office. All part of the life of the law.

Or in other words, "God help you if you ever end up in the crosshairs of the US Government". Thanks Joe. Hope it goes well for you.

And in the absence of a statement such as "L'Equipe has their facts wrong", I'll assume the allegations being exposed are probably true.

Is it ILLEGAL to read another person's emails?
Might be a Federal Offense?

Anyway, I would guess the leaked e-mails came from an "unnamed source close to the investigation".

Maybe the Longo's should file a motion.
Stopped quite a few leaks here in the States.

My sentencing is currently scheduled for 21 October. It's been delayed for a total of ... 19 months ... for various reasons and suddenly I can imagine it being delayed again but I really just want to get it over, kind of.

I am scared to death, of course, and especially fear being incarcerated in a federal prison for 10 years and being sexually-brutalized or otherwise subjected to sanctioned violence or other depravities that characterize much of the US prison system according to my research.

Concerning the evidence/emails - and please take note of this - I DID NOT PROVIDE ANY NEW EVIDENCE TO L'EQUIPE NOR DID I CATALYZE THEIR INVESTIGATION OR OTHERWISE ENCOURAGE IT. I only learned of it when it was basically complete and simply confirmed for them details of my own criminal case that they put to me, which involved Ciprelli. I did not even provide them with the emails, which they already had before they contacted me.

Then it is pretty clear that some authorities, or somebody close to them, that had access to the seized records leaked this information for other purposes.

I appreciate your concerns regarding your future and possible prison time. But then again, selling illegal drugs via the internet has consequences in our society. Do I agree with them? No. But, that is the reality of the law today and society in the US. I personally don't care what adults do to themselves. I'm a libertarian through and through.

Best of luck to you and your future court dates.

If they're willing to let him roam free for 19 months (post-plea) then it's clear that the feds are not especially interested in seeking "real" prison time. Joe, I wouldn't worry too much.

Polish I see were people are beating you up from the statement of people illegally reading email that don't belong to them. It reminds me of a funny thing that used to (and I am positive still does) happen.
In my old office we used to get faxes from stock brokers that were addressed to somebody else. The fax would say "Joe buy as many shares of this as you can afford!! Hurry it's even bigger than I told you this weekend at your kids birthday party". There was no friend or party just some hard up young broker trying to get a fish.
I get email from time to time that say company confidential..not from my company. Some of the funniest things I read are other people's emails and tweets. 1 recent thing was an objection to one guy using a picture of another guy arm in arm w Don King as his facebook profile. The objections and rebuttals were so funny I could hardly breath .
Relax man, if you carry water for Lance you are going to get slammed by the minute if not every second

FWIW I hope you just get a good taste of the slammer, nothing more. What you did was seriously bad, but I doubt you're much of a risk for future felonies. If you've got a steady job, that'll be a big help.

this infuriates me. who was victimized and to what extent? even in the unlikely event he was the only one supplying drugs to the peloton, so what if a few sports results were tainted? it is entertainment. this would be like arresting the writers for a reality show. put it in perspective. he didn't make anyone homeless or waterboard anyone or do a "heckava job". yet he should go to jail for something so trivial? the mind boggles.

grenoble’s prosecutor office opened a criminal investigation into ciprelli epo purchase affaire.

i’m following the facts of this case with great interest since if they’re confirmed (ciprell‘s categorical denials look comical and so ricco-esque ) it will be potentially one of the longest frauds in sporting history.

If proved, and i dont doubt that she doped, doesn't this episode point to a barren period of Longo's career, 2007 she won nothing major if she even won anything. 2008 french champion TT and Road.

Or am i missing the sarcasm in your post:D

there was some...:)

but if seriously, i'm a tad conflicted about ciprelli-longo...split btwn her remarkable achievements (which couldn't have come only from elicit substances) and the latest doping episode.

you're right, 2007 was 'dry' for longo - 'only' 7th in the worlds. that year ciprelli also became the coach for her fierce competitor, (also not a spring chicken) - pitel.

so, yeah, there are complications - that's why a criminal investigation should sort some things out. the linked article implied an investigation beyond the 3 years dictated by the sol.

Have i missed anything the last few days or did this item get overlooked ?

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/jeannie-longo-opts-to-miss-world-championships

Of course she would be upset , BUT would you put your head on the line with ALL the media trying to scoop each other ?

So much hot air is available w/out being mobbed by " Renta journa crowds" !

Remember how Contador was mobbed on his arrival at the TDF press centre on the wednesday , the photo and TV crews were falling over each other and as some were down on the ground i walked in and shook hands with AC , we both couldn't believe the situation .

Next day in Les Essarts was a repeat , push and shove time all over again and i strolled up shook hands then went and had chat with the "Little Aussie Battler ( Richie Porte)" who was bemused by the whole episode .

i am hoping due to the age of Ciprelli he is not looking forward to prison and does a Joe Papp and tells all, a good thing by the way!

The logical reaction would be to just put 100% of the blame on Joe Papp, as his name is already out there. No way would he implicate anyone else.
