If he wsa working for the feds after May then why would his plea include the time frame afterward?

I would guess that things people do while cooperating with the government don't just disappear because the government knew - they'd have to be acknowledged in a legal formal way, perhaps in a plea agreement.

So it still seems possible that everything he plead to after May was all part of his cooperation. But it's also still possible that his cooperation was in some very limited scope, and other things were separate and hidden.

So we really don't know, unless someone speaks up. And it's possible that no one ever will.

That actually makes it sound like a lucrative deal, The Crusher.

On a side note, I wonder how Joe P got Leogrande to for a pic while holding his newly acquired vials of EPO. Smooooth in my book:cool:

flicker, Carmichael doped junior riders himself. No one knows how many riders he told to turn over and stuck a syringe in their **** cheeks.

Why would you endorse StrongArm's association.

too much vitriol to StrongArm does not recognise his achievements imo. Should be recognition of sporting achievements as well. Some say he was a mediocre rider, before Ferrari, and that is wrong. He could have been a great classics rider, if he worked on his sprint to finish in small groups, like Bartoli. He got a good break in worlds, but he could have been a great one day rider.

And why would they need to raid his mothers house in September?

Whoah. I missed that. Looks like a serious judgement failure by Joe.

What I like about Lance is the winning attitude. I think the combination of athletic ability and determination he has is incredible.

The downside are the doping allegations and deceptions pointed out by the forum posters. Plus I personally think he has an ugly riding style. Of course also Lances' special pomposity.

I like Lance because he is a winner and has overcome many things which most people have not been able to. For that for myself I can overlook Lances foibles.
Also Eddy Merckx is friends with Lance and that is a good thing in my eyes.

Armstrong has nothing to do with this thread. Go troll somewhere else.

Don't you think we have already pretty much killed the subject of Joe Papp.

I will say this about him. I do not know him personally. I do not hate him. Many have done what he has done. It is not the end of the world. I am sure Joe will take the punishment meted out to him by the judicial system in a manly way. Joe will serve his time and then become a useful member of society. Let the poor guy get on with his life. Peace out....

You forgot, "unless they are negative or hateful", which a few have been. Don't go getting all high and mighty on us now. Like Joe in the past, people look up to you around here.

All I Flick is showing not to hate. If any cyclist or coach or former cyclist or poster is not up to your standard please do not hate on them. I just came over to the forum to learn. Those who see hate in me I am mirroring your hatred of certain individuals. I am here to help. Lets' be good sportsmen. "Politeness counts."

It is already bad enough when I see pro bike riders who are crybabies and princesses.

When get on your bike and ride I mean it. That is what I do when I feel depressed or angry.

I'm not quite sure why people are willing to just let him off the hook because "it was in the past." The guy smuggled in illegal drugs, made tens of thousands of dollars (at least), and then distributed drugs to nearly 200 people -- and potentially a lot of juniors.

What makes him better than any other drug dealer? Because he is maybe more educated? That just means he probably got away with it for longer, so he did more harm.

Doing drugs harms yourself. Dealing drugs harms others. Really, it's just the Principle of Utility, and Papp should be burned at the stake just like every other drug dealer.

With the exception of the junior part (any evidence of this?) you are correct. Dealing dope, even if it is just to help fat masters win the local crit, is wrong.

Any redemption comes from his actions afterward, something that is far from clear right now.

Uh-huh. Attacking the supply has worked so well in the past. It was hard to find a more incompetently run war than the war on drugs until Bush got us into Iraq and Afghanistan.

People taking drugs harm themselves.

True, but people selling the drugs are harming others......for profit.
