Jonas Vingegaard: Something is Rotten

Page 129 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Crash was certainly not as bad as Froome's/Bernal's/Remco's(Lombardia) for him to come back to this form, this quick.
I think really the worst are complex fractures of femur and/or hip. Because those are the areas you generate your power with and chances are, you never reach 100% anymore. Beloki, Schleck, and also your 3 examples above.

Vingegaard was "lucky" to not fracture anything "cycling-relevant" - ribs and collarbone - who cares (apart from a short training break).

Pneumothorax is ofc freigthening but "If treated, most people don't have long-term health effects from a pneumothorax."

Nevertheless, considering he for sure lost 2 weeks of training in a critical phase and for sure some muscle mass while not moving at all in ICU, its still miraculous how strong he is. Insane base level.

Let's say I'm a novice and you're the experts.

How is it possible to have these performances after two weeks in the ICU?

After that injury you can run a TDF but you can't push those EPO 90s alien watts.

the injuries of Bernal/Froome/Evenepoel were potentially fatal, this??? In two months he pushes alien watts???
Probably the same way the other one seems to be holding a 4 month peak from his 60K solo at Strada Bianchi in February through Milan-San Remo, Volta a Catalunya, L-B-L, and the Giro.

do we know what the w/kg is? it was doped for sure but it looked more like Pogacar bonked than anything. i would imagine both of them were below their level from last year.
It's an atypical effort over several climbs and so it's hard to compare, but on Perthus he was ~29" faster than Pogi, and Pogi was still 2nd fastest with 18" down to Evenepoel and Rogla.

so pretty close to Marie Blanque last year when Vingegaard also did 6.9. that was around 10 minutes longer though but today was ridden much harder before too. very close to last year then i think.

I might be off topic here for a minute but I wish Pog would wear the black shorts instead of the full yellow skinsuit. It's a fashion aberration riding around like a human banana.

As for Pog's performance, I don't think he bonked. I think what we watched in stage 11 was the 2024 TdF equivalent of Lance on the Alpe d'Huez back in the 2003 Tour. Aka his rivals were better than he thought they were (remember Beltran's delierious pace setting sprint onto the climb? lol worthy stuff).

And Vingegaard is on another level entirely. I don't know what Visma have done but we're seeing something physiologically & biologically which I believe the military & government should look into.

I mean forget anti-dope agencies, I want to know what Nasa thinks of this guy. They should conduct tests on him in a lab.
