VAM = 2099 m/h
Cutting it close there, if it was 2100 I‘d have thought he was doping!VAM = 2099 m/h
Pretty simple. He's not out there making absurd and ridiculous claims of how he's able to do what he's doing and insult the intelligence of most of the cycling world with his blather. His team isn't preaching about clean cycling and how bringing their own pillows is why 7 of them were going over cols together dropping the entire peloton. No tropical illnesses which were cured but then weren't but then recurred again. Generally not taking the piss.Froomegaard. I don't know how there's no Sky-level outrage at him and Jumbo as it was with Froome

That journalist just should have brought up the pre-race police raid (without mentioning Bahrain) and asked Wout why he doesn't feel like he has the right to ask some serious questions. You have some ammonition to fire back if the lash out, so keep going and maybe they make a fool out of themselfs.Be patient, i.e. the Vingegaard show is just getting started. This is the 2023 equivalent of Froome's 2013, except with much higher wattage because 'modern cycling' reasons. Maybe it's the evolutionary process Brailsford once mentioned, i.e. humans are getting stronger!
Vingegaard has plenty of time to say dumb stuff & screw his own nascent image as a cycling champ. For example Jumbo Visma didn't react well at all last year when some journalists asked dope related questions at the end of the Tour (WvA in particular got mad).
If the top 8 are all faster than 2020 it's possible that the wind was more favorable today.

Kuss did a VAM of 1820 for 23:38, according to the file that he uploaded on Strava, so you can probably take that as a reference if you know the gap on top of the climb.VAM of 2100 m/h for 12 minutes (which were only a part of the climb) is thermonuclear. Similar level to Pogacar & Vingegaard in Mende last year but for longer and with another part of the climb before. I'm very curious of his w/kg and VAM for the whole climb. Suspecting 1900+ m/h of VAM and 6.7+ w/kg for 20+ minutes.
And this is only the beginning of scary performances in this race, methinks. Can Skeletor reach Pantani numbers at some point?

I didn't want to believe tbh after last year but it's true, all of it, i.e. Jumbo have created the ultimate mutant.
Yeah, but still...So 1868 m/h of VAM for 23 minutes, superb but not as scary as I thought.
Yeah, but still...
Pogacar's PDBF performance may turn out to be a nail in his TdF coffin.

Per LR, there was a tailwind. But still a monster performance from Vingegaard.Per Lantern Rouge, there was a tailwind on the climb. I'm assuming they factored that into the power calculations. Here is what they say:
- Vingegaard's best climbing performance in a GT of all time
- Very close to Contador in Verbier, but not quite on that level
- Not quite on the level of Roglic and Remco on Lo Port, but this was obviously in tougher context
Jonas Vingegaard Skyrockets on Marie Blanque | Tour de France 2023 Stage 5 - Lanterne Rouge
Jonas Vingegaard annihilated his competition on the steep gradienst of the Marie Blanque climb, putting over a minute into his closest rival before the race, Tadej Pogačar. Jai Hindley won the stage from the breakaway and earnt the leader's jersey, with a masterclass from Bora-Hansgrohe.lanternerouge.com
The lovechild of Rasmussen and Riis, as clean as a rotten fish.I am sorry but this guy is out of this world….we all know miracles in cycling do not exist and I have such a bad feeling about the whole team. Sepp Kuss being right there with Pogacar? Will he make the podium after a tiring Giro? It is laughable.
