Vinge had crazy wattage in this TT, he even admitted he doubted his computer numbers. Even if top-form Pogacar was able to reduce the gap by half he would still be 50 seconds behind Vinge (and I really don't think he could've been closer yesterday).

fair enough. 50 seconds would still have felt like a lot. i still think he would've been closer if he was 100%.

a lot can be attributed to it being written word without facial expressions + the idea of familiarity while not knowing eachother.
Unless their is name calling involved, it is typically not intentional but more of a direct approach/rebuttal

Van Aert is still a very good climber and he’s been much closer than this to outstaniding performances on though courses before (La Planche TT and Olympics for example) on much longer efforts than this.
Bilbao have had several decent TT performances before. He's not stable, but over the years he’s had a lot of top 10 results in WT-races.
Simon Yates is sometimes freaking amazing on hilly TTs.
Adam Yates is mediocre.
Cavagna isn’t a good climber, but he was much closer on the La Planche TT for example..
3 minutes to these guys is insane. I don’t agree with “weak field”. It’s not like he’s beaten Roglic and Remco of course, but it’s still a good field.
the number is dependent on body weight, maybe they put in 48 instead of 58? who knows
We can only compare with similar measurements and apparently he is in the same range as all top riders. (>80 <90)

yeah that Cavagna result is a good call, 2 minutes behind Pogacar. I forgot about that completely and that climb was much harder too.

"I didn't even believe my computer numbers" is not exactly a good thing to say in my book. Yikes, that was some TT!
Could have done it for a lot more than 13 minutes too.

I think JV has to control Vinge's PCs more. They surely weren't supper happy about this wattage comment!
I think it was rather about 7.0-7.3 w/kg but still super impressive stuff at the end of a very powerful TT overall.
Well, accuracy asside, i posted it because of the comment/remark in 2013. We are now doing above 7W/kg for almost twice the duration of what a specific rider with history thought was physical possible.
So every alarm bell should ring of anyone in the peleton/involved in the peleton/has been involved in anything related to the peleton.
(that involves most of the belgian commentators who are just 'amazing', 'great'...)

Nobody is gonna go out on and be the first one to criticize. It will take for more people close to it to start talking. Someone who has a leg to stand on. Then others will follow. Thats the way it goes. It is politics at the end of the day. Public/fans has a big voice if they come together... but right now there are only a small minority being critical. Few journalists. They are protecting their jobs.
Right now, it is seemingly the damage control narrative from everybody going on. They want this talk to die down quick. Hence why probably every commentator in every country today said things like "whenever someone is this good, the talk of doping starts", "these guys get tested after every stage", "Vingegaard is on record for having amazing tests results"... blah blah blah. It was all I heard today from the commentators in my country and I know those guys are not saying what they really wanna say. I understand it though. I laughed at one point, after they had gone on about the predictable stuff I knew they were gonna say, because one of them said "but I am not gonna vouch for anyone". All that talk about defending the rider and the sport, then that sentence. Lol.
Fittingly, Pog crashes and is now sick.
In a week after the Tour the masses has moved on from it. They dont care about it. Left are we who follow the sport almost every day, every race. We have all seen this before. We know what is probably going on. We look past it most of the time, but maybe not when it is this ridiculous! How could we!
Anyway it is entertainment. The last two days have been entertaining. I am here for the jokes.

I have to say I find it quite amusing that the Lanterne Rouge guys, who usually do everything they can to boost Vingegaard’s numbers, have suddenly stopped doing that.
There’s no mention of his performance on the actual steep part of the climb - and based on how he paced that I’m pretty sure their formula will have spat out 8+ w/kg. They definitely over-estimate in general, but still.
And then today there’s suddenly no mention of the altitude-adjustment crap that they usually do with high-altitude climbs. Probably because if you add about 0.5w/kg like they usually do it puts him up there with Riis, Pantani, and company. Not that I buy into the altitude adjustment stuff they do, but the fact it suddenly went missing is funny.
Ow I uderstand that. It still buggs me that most of those commentators are ex-riders. Typically riders who either were involved in the epo years or ridden them., or are part the 'clean' generation that ended after froome dominance.
Its kind of the: we know that they know that we know that they know there is shennigans going on.

Vingegaard was doing quite well with the doping questions, giving open answers that were really closed, saying the right things but not offering a path forward. And then he got asked about grey area / off label doping:
He's never heard abut it before? Never? He slept through the whole Wiggins thing? He's never heard the concerns about the misuse of Thyroid meds? He's never noticed the debate around the use of Ketones?
Alberto Bettiol from EF Education said this earlier today: "I was surprised by the time gaps yesterday, but our people made some predictions based on what numbers we think everyone can do, and our guess for Jonas was only 3 seconds off. I think Tadej was way off yesterday."
So clearly the other teams, and the other riders, do not find Vingegaard's time suspicious.
