Teams & Riders Jonas Vingegaard thread: Love in Iberia

Page 182 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Ekstra Bladet is indeed usually looking for sensations, but if they have the quote directly from his father then it might be true. However it wouldn't be the first time he'd felt misunderstood or spoken out of his ass. Let's wait and see what happens.

There's bound to be speculation IMO. Out of everyone who crashed 7 days ago, we've had pictures & comments from all of them... except Vingegaard.

Not sure Ala and Bernal are effected by their crashers anymore. There is something wrong at quickstep and with Bernal the level of the field is just not what it was when he was up there.
Of course Froome, Ala, Bernal are/were affected by terrible crashes. Froome and Ala therefore also lost their professional attitude and will never come back. Not even at sub-topper level.
I think Bernal will reach his old level again (or already has reached that level). But the level has risen so much in recent years that Bernal can no longer compete with the very best, even at his 2019 level. But he's still young. Bernal will probably equal the level of Roglic, Evenepoel, Ayuso, Yates this year and next year, but slightly after Pogacar and Vingegaard...

I don't know what's going one but it wouldn't hurt no one if Vingegaard logged into his social media account and just posted something, anything, a simple "I'm fine! It could have been very worse. Thanks for the concern, I'll come back stronger!".

But then again, don't remember any world superstar as so social media inept as him. His last social media post is about Van Hooydonck in last september, all that appeared after were made by other brands.

Probably he already forgotten the password of his social media account.

He doesn't have insta on his own phone. It's on his wife's phone though.

That Exstra Bladet interview with Pa and Ma Vingegaard .... no word from Jonas, Mrs Jonas or Visma -

For Vingegaard's father however it is unthinkable that after so much time he has not yet been personally updated, which dramatically increases his concerns over the Danish rider's condition.

“We really only know what we read in the media. It's not that we don't want to visit him in Spain, but at the moment I don't think we should. We are currently only receiving minor updates," he says, hoping for a quick change in the situation.

It’s completely unacceptable noone has contacted them with any updates unless they have no relationship and everyone knows about it. The team should be in contact with them (even if was is comatose).

On the other hand, I’ll never understand why anyone would go to the media with a story like that…

The second line justifies the first. I don't think it's unacceptable to withhold medical information from the extended family. I think (extended) family relations is one of the dimensions in which Scandinavians differ most from the rest of Europe.

Looks like Trine thinks, she owns Jonas or something. Not passing on information about health situation of someones son is horrible. This whole Trine vibe is just strange.
Indeed. They have a "unhealty" relation. It has been known for a long time Trine wants and has the complete control over her husband. Even excluding Vingegaard more and more of his family. But the fact that his team is not communicating clear and open and doesn't allow (?) or facilitate that Vingegaard communicate with his family, is strange and disturbing. I think Vingegaard is way more hurt and affected than initially communicated. But that should be one more reason to put his real family (parents, etc.) in touch with him.
My conclusion. No Tour this year for Vingegaard.

Don't get this s###! His medical condition is the only one we don't know anything, seriously hate this secret environment around Vingegaard. The only reason for all this nonsense is Vingegaard being in critical condition and I think he isn't.
