You guys.

The debate was pretty much self explanatory, that is Rogla winning a GT double in this and the next season, that would settle the GOAT debates, when it comes to stage racing. Especially considering supposedly season 2024 is already reserved for Pogi and 2025 for Jonas, on when it comes to a potential GT double.

As for Jonas and if he really doesn't plan to participate at Vuelta 2024. Then in my opinion the plan is to participate at the Tour, regardless of the shape. In some way that is admirable but on the other hand one could argue it's just bad management.

The GT double is generally considered to be Giro-Tour.

Because Vingegaard had a worse injury that affects his training output, stamina, and breathing.
But he also had more time to come back from that injury.

Look, I'm not trying to say that he will be at 100%. I just think that this nonsense about how he can enter the tour at whatever% and than get better by the third week is a bunch of crap. Not in todays cycling when they go full gas every day.

Bad preparation has a tendency to show late into the GT. I believe he will start and if he does his numbers will be good enough for him to think he can win it all. The real problem IMO will be sustaining that form for 3 long weeks with the kind of preparation he had.

But he also had a far worse injury that takes longer to recover from and directly hampers his training and intensity.

Again, I'm not arguing about who had a worse injury. I'm just saying that if he starts he will probably be at his best in the first two weeks and not in the third week like some here had suggested.

And in order to be in just best shape he needs to be able to properly train. I don’t think he’s had enough or maybe even started to properly train yet like he would if he hadn’t been injured. Only way I see him being close or at his best is if you could see him from a different universe.

Gamblers have Vinegaard back on the board for the TDF at ~ 2 to 1. They think if he starts the race, he will have the best shot of anyone at beating Pogi.

So baby on the way or why such certainty that at Vuelta Jonas will be busy with family matters?
From what I've read and reading between the lines, it seems the crash and recovery have been a strain on the family. Vingegaard's family are like a safety valve from his "autistic spectrum" type behaviour. It would be unusual if there were not problems (just think of Pogacar and his wanting to leave the Tour when Urska was in hospital). These are human beings after all and not cycling automatons.

Makes sense to me. Under normal circumstances only he can beat Pogacar (assuming the Slovenian doesn't fade after the Giro). Now obviously things are looking much more complicated for him but if he starts it means he has at least decent form.

So Pogi wins the Tour just like that, it's a gift then.

He still has to race it and win it, against whomever is there. Of course it's a nicer competition with Vingegaard present, but if he can't put up the fight needed, that's also "a gift" to Pogi.

The reason to do the Tour or not should be based on what he can realistically be expected to achieve. He's not a conservative rider, but I doubt he'd like to demote himself to Stage hunter after dominating for 2 years.

So if the Tour win does not seem realistic on participation why would he race just to make Pogacars win better?
