It's impressive how fast he can be during finishes. It's also because other GC guys are more in red zone after climbing. Vingo's biggest task is still ahead: dropping Pogacar instead of holding his wheel.

Sure. His sprinting and explosivity sometimes gets underrated because there are guys who are/have been better than him, but he's no slouch and in the days before Pogačar he wouldn't have been considered slow by many, especially not given his size.

He might of course try to surprise Pogi on one of these finishes, instead of always losing to the inherently faster rider. Both Evenepoel and him are making it rather easy for Pogi. Evenepoel because he's too eager to show how good he is, and Vingegaard because he's the opposite.

In all honesty i find it rather strange they feel comfortable sprinting against Pogi with Jonas at classics.

I was expecting him lo lose 45 - 30 sec to Pogi on this course, so not a huge drama. A bad day - for sure, but not a disaster. The fact Matteo had a bad day too suggests there was something wrong somewhere within the team. Maybe nutrition, maybe something else. The mountain TT suits him much better so we'll have to see how he goes there. Usually, I would expect him to win a TT like this or to be a close second at worst.
The ITT was disappointing, really bad doing worse than Amirail or vauquelin, but i am quite happy with the fact he could sustain the attack of the best 2 min effort of all time, something would never happen on Dauphiné.

Now, keeping safe today, Visma keeping the plan they' re doing everyday, and the real Tour starts in the Pyrenees.

The Tour will be decided by a couple of minutes in the mountains.

Do you really think the gap between the 2 is that big?

If the performance gap is small then 1'17'' could be really pain in the *** for Vingegaard as Pogacar on his wheel will spend less energy and his situation is tactically easier. If the gap is significant then this time difference likely won't be decisive (the probability that it's Vingegaard who is significantly better seems low though).

I have some hope Vinge can be quite close to Pog in the mountains. I have a harder time seeing him actually droping Pog. For that to happen Pog must have a bad day and as we know it happens very rarely nowdays.

Pog also seems to be riding a bit wiser in this year's tour. Only really one hard attack so far, and the team chilled on the hardest stage so far (stage 6). He should be pretty fresh when they get to the mountains.

Beside the tt I think Vinge has showed great form, more explosive than ever. But we still don't know how strong he will be in the mountains. He usually is strong and shape seems good, so we should be quite optimistic he will do well. Question is if it will be well enough to really put pressure on Pog. I'm still a bit sceptic, but soon we will know.

I think Vingegaard will stay on Pogi's wheel in the Pyrenees and not attack before Ventoux unless he senses weakness.

Hard to sense weakness off the guy who practices his tiktok smile while done VO2 max intervals on the trainer in front of a mirror

If Pogi feels weak he will tell Vingo: Slow down, Jonas. We don't have to rush. Those guys (poor frenchmen in the breakaway) are no threat to our GC.
MVP must have told Pogi his grandpa's Puy de Dome story.

He should whisper in his ears the magical words: '' I'm gone! I'm dead! ''.

Pog to Vingo: I can be killed but I can never be beaten because I am king, not you, not Jorge but ME!
Pog bonks.
Pog to himself: How can this be happening to ME?

"Slow down Jonas. For the first time in my life I want to gift this stage to the breakaway. And no Yates, Kuss, Jorgenson, Van Aert and Niermann aren't allowed in it."

I believe it's, alot, bigger and that we will never see what Pogacar is truly capable of if needed.

Then again I am just some random with internet connection and a, however informed, opinion and might very well be wrong.

What he needs to do is OTL the green jersey competition in the MTT. So perhaps we will learn.
