"Vingegaard visits a care home for the elderly on Thursday, July 27th, in his hometown of Glyngore with sources close the 26-year-old telling Belgian journalist Jonas Creteur that "It's his highest priority to pay a visit there, because he knows that it means something to the elderly, and it means something to him."

Good intentions, but it sounds a bit strange, and even more so that a Hollywood movie actor tweets about it.

Except it's not just about peaking, it's also about recovery and fatigue after a TDF which his own team tried to make as hard as possible for him to crack the competition. Assuming he will not be in his best form at the Vuelta has little to do with which rider you cheer for, rather common sense. Also, why would one assume the riders he beat in Itzulia were closer to their peak than Vingegaard? Yet now he will come up against riders who are not "equally" prepared, but potentially better. And who are, with all due respect, a few levels above the competition he beat in Itzulia. And i'm not just talking about one guy specifically.
That may all very well be true, but it's not the point. Vingegaard can do well when he's not in absolute top form, that's all I'm arguing. Of course he won't have his Tour form, but does he really need to without Pogacar? And given that recovery is his main strength, he should be reasonably ready in a month.

He has the added advantage that there's zero pressure. If it works out, great. If it doesn't, well, he's already won the biggest race on the calendar. Then it's up to Roglic.

Isn't Ben Stiller a buddy of Lance Armstrong? He's probably quite into cycling. Has to be, because otherwise as an American he'd have no idea who Jonas Vingegaard is.

What sounds strange about it? That he did this or that they reported on it?

That Stiller knows this is a surprise but maybe he still hangs out with Tour contenders sometimes and knows ***.

If this is reaching Hollywood folks, let's make a comedy out of it.

Ben Stiller's Zoolander as Pogi Boy and Macaulay Culkin as Vingo. Schwarzenneger as Van Aert and Patrick Stewart as Gianetti.

Just imagining Van Aert's Schwarzenegger dropping in Joux Plane echoing "I'll be back" to finish off with Majka.

Of course it couldn't be a '20s hollywood flick without Timothée Chalamet as Remco.

Got to be better than Barbie.

do they have room for him in a 4-men team, though? I guess Pedersen, Bjerg and maybe Skjelmose (depending on his program) are more or less fixed?

He obviously can't nor should he have a guaranteed spot in the team, considering the current strength among the Danish riders. But it does sound like he will be representing the national team next year in the EC and/or WC (but a lot can of course change within a year).
