Kelderman underperformed. Not sure if he isn´t suited for the domestique role or simply wasn´t in peak shape but ignoring Loze and Marie Blanque he could barely follow WVA and Van Baarle. Was dropped by them on a couple of stages in the second and third week.
What people are forgetting is that Kelderman was initially planned for the Giro but missed that due to a fall. And Kelderman was reserve for the Tour and not optimally prepared.
Kelderman said himself he was happy with his level in the Tour but it wasn't his top level. The preparation wasn't there for that.

Kelderman on his better days did quite some damage.

He seems really happy in this role too, I don't think starts complaining quikcly about not getting his own chances. He was basiclaly the first to be scheduled for the Giro and was then super happy to hear Roglic was also gonna race it.

Vingegaard will be in top form.

He wouldn't be going otherwise. Even the messaging would be different (they'd downplay his chances) because here he clearly says "co leader".

Vingegaard is a top GT star now. These guys don't race GT's just to ride support or not in condition to win.
He was asked in a Danish interview if he was going to the Vuelta to win it, with the implication that he might be going to help someone else, he hesitated for a second and looked straight into the camera and said loud and clear "yes!"

He also said in the same interview that he wanted to do the Vuelta last year as well, but the team said no.

Where and when did he say that?

I mean, it makes a lot of sense to me. There's not anything to do for him after Tour de France apart from Lombardia, and he has proven he's not very good targetting that race. The Vuelta good serve as a race for him just like it did for Froome who also didn't have anything better to do and try to target it. Both riders loved the heat as well and pretty much isn't made for racing anything else than hard stage races.

So very good on him for doing that. Its a lot better than Tour of fricking Croatia.
Was it ever legit scientifically when Froome and other GT riders 5 years ago said doing the second GT was great for the legs , for the following season?

I would think so, since Froome was at Sky who already had a very scientific approach to racing.
It can be; done at a strength pace I would guess. Going over the top can be pointlessly taxing and set him up for injuries or illness, too. All of that is generalized theory and Jonas should do what he wants. Telling the Danish press he could be going for the win isn't the same as planning to go for the win.

"We have a more difficult goal than winning La Vuelta.

To get Kelderman a stage win"

He can't wash his hair this close to having the blonde highlights added on his bangs......
They're natural. He's always had them.

I've been going over it a bit but when I think of riders doing Tour-Vuelta doubles the Vuelta has usually been worse if the Tour has been red hot and vice versa, if I go over doubles by Froome, Valverde, Purito, Quintana, Roglic, Mas and even Menchov. When any of them hit roughly the same level in both races it was because they weren't hitting their career peaks anyway.

Might include Andy Schleck but somehow I don't see Jonas going on a bender.
