He is not going to win many fans riding like this. Not even a single attack in the last 3 km.
He was perfectly okay with losing today, as long as he lost to the right person.Incredible how you can say ,I‘m going to try‘ for GC and then not even try to win the stage in the final k. This has to be the saddest effort ever. Too afraid to lose nothing.

He raced perfectly because he made Pogacar lose and you are happy about this.He was perfectly okay with losing today, as long as he lost to the right person.
Good points. Zero WT wins is laughable. I hope Pog goes to the Vuelta and just sits in his wheelHe needs a complete reset. His tactics are winning him zero fans and zero wins, I don’t think his approach of doing a whopping 18 race days before the Tour is doing him any favours and his wife is actively trying to make said approach even worse. Obviously it’s difficult against Pogacar but what he’s doing right now is getting him nowhere - zero WT wins at the end of July is laughable for a rider of his calibre.

Why don't you admit?
If he were mopping up dozens of wins at one week races you'd just say he's dodging Pog.Good points. Zero WT wins is laughable. I hope Pog goes to the Vuelta and just sits in his wheel
People get bored by Pogacar's and now the guy who was launching at 70km from the line yesterday is getting blamed. Sometimes there's nothing you can do.He needs a complete reset. I don't particularly like Vingegaard but let's not act like Vingegaard didn't attack on Superbagneres, about six times up Ventoux, and again on Madeleine before running out of gas. He and Visma tried to take the race on, even in the stage to Hautacam, but kept getting it wrong and not having the legs.He needs a complete reset. Curious how his tactics should have been different in this Tour? As RR says, Pog looked distinctly human in the final week. Just a shame for Vingegaard that he himself also looked equally human. But it was a clear improvement over Pog being on a completely different level in the first half of the race. Sometimes no tactics in the world will make you beat a clearly superior rider. He needs a complete reset. Pogačar looks dead on the wheels… Well, if this is true, then the right play would have been to attack from 70k out again, not giving up on everything. You‘re saying that there was nothing he could do yet you say Pogačar looked dead… impossible mental gymnasticsPeople get bored by Pogacar's and now the guy who was launching at 70km from the line yesterday is getting blamed. In fact, it appears Visma's strategy of making the race as hard as possible did work to an extent, cause Pogacar looks dead on the wheels as well.
I thought he might try on Col du Pré today. But all the complaints right now are about how he raced on La Plagne in regards to the stage win.Pogačar looks dead on the wheels… Well, if this is true, then the right play would have been to attack from 70k out again, not giving up on everything. Both of them destroyed the Ventoux record three days ago, that was anything but distinctly human. As RR says, Pog looked distinctly human in the final week. Just a shame for Vingegaard that he himself also looked equally human.
They're definitely looking more prone to fatigue than last year, when the watts missiles were dropping no matter how hard a stage was. Both of them destroyed the Ventoux record three days ago, that was anything but distinctly human.
Fair. The gaps to the rest of the field in the past two days have not been very alien-like though. Both of them destroyed the Ventoux record three days ago, that was anything but distinctly human.

Well, that was Unipuerto off of a rest day, way less fatigue than nowBoth of them destroyed the Ventoux record three days ago, that was anything but distinctly human.
If he was serious about winning the Tour, you try on the hardest part of Courchevel before the last 6. That didn't happen. You try on stage 14, but they chased stage victories with worthless domestiques and Jonas was too afraid of Pog.Fair. I'm still curious about your answer to what Vingegaard should have done differently in this Tour. As I tend to appreciate your insights on things.
That doesn't explain why the numbers were so much better on Ventoux than on Hautacam, especially depthwise. Don't buy that everyone was really fatigued on the first mountain stage. They're definitely looking more prone to fatigue than last year, when the watts missiles were dropping no matter how hard a stage was.
Heat, unexpectedly difficult first 2 hours, and maybe some some undereating because of that the unexpected difficulty may explain some of it. A fewof the guys also really blew up hard due to starting Hautacam too fast. That doesn't explain why the numbers were so much better on Ventoux than on Hautacam, especially depthwise. When nearly everyone drops terrible numbers for 2014, I just have to assume there's some unknown factors that are really poor for a high performance.
