Okay… can I have a personal opinion? That I find WC RR, 2x LBL, Vuelta, 3x WC ITT and OG double more interesting than a single TDF like Pereiro?
Of course you can give your opinion. I've given the opinion of someone (Eddy Merckx) who won everything there was to win in his era.

This was about whether Evenepoel would give up his palmares for Vingegaard's. I think he would.

Why do you think he's constantly talking about preparing for the Tour, this is not the Tour yet, it's all about the Tour, I've come to Red Bull to win the Tour, I'll be losing weight for the Tour, I'll be killing my puppy for the Tour... it's because the Tour is everything. I haven't really noticed him talking about his plans for Liege or Montreal. But then again, I'm not a huge Evenepoel aficionado, so I could be wrong.

After his other wins, he wants to win the Tour. Don't know if he wants to trade his current palmares for a Tour, but maybe for a Tour and a Giro.

Vinnie would rather win the Giro than the tour in 2026. Nibali said the Giro was as big as the tour for him.
Yes, the tour is the biggest race but not bigger than a good combination of the other races (also it's debatable whether winning the tour is harder than me losing those 5 kilos).
https://www.cyclingweekly.com/racin...-jonas-vingegaard-seeks-out-grand-tour-triple

I could see how:
- winning 'The triple' for someone who already has 2 TdFs
can be bigger than winning one more TdFs*

But:
winning two more TdFs, therefore reaching 4 total TdFs, is most likely bigger than having 2 TdFs + 1 Vuelta + 1 Giro, and therefore the same amount of GTs (4) plus completing the Triple.

3 TdFs < '2 TdFs + Triple' (4 total GTs) < 4 TdFs (no triple)

*beating Pogacar carries way more weight than beating Oscar Pereiro, but lets not complicate things even more.

Nibali has objectively the best palmares of all time (considering the circumstances), so we must take his opinion seriously.

Because he won all the rest he already deems important? Only thing he is really missing is Giro, TDF, Lombardia. Everything else is just extra

Pocagar is more of a luck merchant than Nibali

Pocagar is fairly unlucky though.
Visma went to Denmark for a certain rider, then they luckily came back with a random fish factory worker, who luckily turned out to be a monster climber winning 2 Tours out of Pocagar.
Had Visma came back with the rider they went for...
we probably wouldn't be discussing this because this thread wouldn't exist and Satanists would have won 6 Tours.
But lady luck is lady luck.

Edit: When I think about it, poor Rabobank needed some luck after the lucky (or shaw I say snowy?) way Nibali stole that Giro from them. And they got it with Vingegaard. Nibali got lucky, Visma got lucky, Vingegaard got lucky, Pogacar had to suffer that stage 16 of TdF 2023, we'll tell our grandchildren legends about.
All because Nibali got lucky one faithful day in the Giro 2016..

Pogacar doesn't win Roubaix because he had to face the best rider in the race's history. Pogacar lost one Tour de France because he had to compete alone in a stage against one of the best climbers in history, alongside the one who holds the Vuelta record, and Van Aert.
Nibali has a Tour de France because he beat Peraud.

Yes. It's certainly obvious 🤣.

Yeah let's completely forget that Pedersen had a flat last year in Roubaix... Pogacar wouldn't even finish 2nd if that didn't happen. The list is endless for Pogacar with how lucky he is with the misfortunes of his opposition.

The difference is Pogacar can still win when he is sick, crashes, has mechanicals. No, the list isn't endless.
I took a quick look to Pogacar's palmares and it's hard to find a race where he would not win even if everything went perfectly for him and his rivals.

Saying he wouldn't have finished in 2nd if Pedersen didn't have a flat is silly and stupid specially when Pedersen never showed power enough to compete with Pogacar. Pedersen could have finished 2nd or 1st but let's not pretend it's a done deal.

Well he didn't win Roubaix after a crash, that's for sure

I don't believe he would have won without that crash.
Oropa 2024
TdF 2025 (crash and ilness)
SB 2025
TdF 2024 (covid before the race)

In the last 2 years, this happened to Pogacar and he still won. Why not accept cycling is an unpredictable sport? Crashes and mechanicals are part of cycling. This is the beauty of this sport afterall.

It is, I’m just saying Pogacar is lucky

Pogacar has been impervious to luck only since 2024 really. In his earlier years of winning big he had a fair amount of dominos falling his way.

It's not like he can chose what to win in 2026. He gets what Pogi doesn't want. He knows that, Pogi knowns that.

Vingo riding Giro is capitulation.
