I must admit that I was very impressed by JTL yesterday. I agree that he was never gonna win, but he was quite active and at the front a lot, and most importantly, showed that he can handle the question and high level of competition which was always gonna be the big question mark.

Very impressive debut at this level, I thought.

How many other finishers in the front group ride for continental squads and have never raced much over 200km before?

Well done to the lad, but like I said in the Cav thread, he is soon to be 28 y/o.

The way people are talking about him its as if he is only 23  28!

Will be interesting to see how he does in the high mountains.

Age is fairly irrelevant as he's had several years out of the sport. Essentially therefore, he is as fresh as someone much younger.

He looks really relaxed when out of the saddle even when following Contadors attack.I wish he was riding Lombardia. Monsterous ride by Stannard.

Sky sponsor Team G.B remember so they probably get all the same kit available as the Team Sky road team.

Great ride from J.T.L, hope he goes for the Tour with Froome and Wiggo does the Giro.

SO he can be a worker bee?.
No thanks, FW and LBL then late season either vuelta-WC-Lombardia or ToB-WC-lombardia.The course in Firenze much better for him than Valkenberg plus hes no spring chicken.

He is a talented guy okey, but one shouldnt forget the Anglo-Saxon tradition of pumping their stars above their levels. ;)

11-12 maybe.

Hell of a ride by the guy, I'm not so sure Britains tactics were spot on but them having JTL as #1 rider was a good decision. Read the race very well with Stannard also faultless.

On the way home after a busy few days-had an awesome time riding with the GB boys yesterday-can't wait for the next time. LOVED the worlds!

Thanks for pointing that one out

I think he could do a job at FW, LBL & Lombardia. Wish Sky sent a team to Bianche, I think he could do a job there too.

Why people think he can smash out a GT straight away baffles me, let alone two in his first season.

They are joking, this whole thread is 50% joke and 50% decent opinions.

Has JTL ever shown anything on cobbles or gravel?

I think he did very well considering this was his first worlds. There was no chance he was going to win but he showed he could hang in there in these types of very long races.

I think he will do a good job in the spring classics and I think Sky may send him to one of GT's as climbing domestique to see how he does. Don't think he has ever done more than a week-long stage race has he?

hmm..

I read most of the posts as jokes. I dont think anyone is actually serious, he is talented no dought about it, but its kinda like the "vino winning TDF 2013" jokes. Running jokes that people just join in on.

Sky would like to send a team to Strada Bianche but they don't get invited for some reason.

I am liking Tommy V in his UK Masters National jersey :D

...and Voeckler appears to be the only one in his big chainring. I remember at some point near the end of the race he seemed to be cranking an enormous gear in comparison to everyone else. I wonder why he chose to ride in such a huge gear?

that's just his climbing style, he's all over the bike cranking on the pedals as hard as he can. Absolutely nothing like Contador's smooth and fluid climbing but somehow it works for him.
