In fairness great ride,got bullied in last lap tho.

On reflection in was an incredible performance by someone who had never even ridden in a world tour race before on a circuit which didn't exactly play to his strengths over a distance he had never come close to attempting before. Maybe I was a little harsh.

He may have finished 19th but he was in the first main group just behind the silver and bronze medal winners. (i don't think he bothered sprinting at the end)

Even better given it's his first top-level race and first over 200km or 250km!

He'll have to wait a year before knicking Boonen's wife though

That may be a bit harsh. He didn't contest the sprint. Given same time as fourth place

Think JTL can be very pleased with his ride. He could have failed massively but was up there showing his face and proving he was strong. Obviously matching Gilbert sprinting up the Cauberg when he is in top form is impossible, but definitely looks good for next year riding at the top level.
