Press Release: Commencement of disciplinary proceedings against Jonathan Tiernan-Locke on the basis of his biological passport

17.12.2013

The analysis of the biological passport of Mr Jonathan Tiernan-Locke by the Experts Panel has demonstrated an anti-doping rule violation (use of prohibited substances and/or methods).

Consequently and in compliance with the UCI Anti-Doping Rules, the UCI has requested his National Federation to initiate disciplinary proceedings.

UKAD and WADA have been informed of the matter pursuant to the UCI Anti-Doping Rules and the WADA code.

At this stage, the UCI will not comment further.

Surly Brailsfraud has had a chat with JTL

"Come on, whats the word?"
"I am clean, dont worry, I just got a cold and the training you offer isnt as good as when I used to go out, stick a finger in the air and sort myself out"
"OK, no worries"

I know from a friend, who ridden with JTL a couple of years ago, and at the moment with riders who ridden against Tiernan-Locke, that back then there were already a lot of stories about him. So no surprise really.

That doesn't make much sense given that he achieved virtually nothing before 2012. Unless he was already doping, ''low octane'' as Lance would say, in order to achieve ****ty results pre-2012 and then stepped it up big time to get some good ones.

Heh, so he even had a whacky virus which 'explained' his late blooming too:

"Tiernan-Locke was a late arrival in the upper echelons of the sport after suffering with Epstein-Barr virus"

1. Making it to the pro's is a big performance step. Most riders never manage to get that far.
2. There is more to doping than just the amount of it. It needs to be integrated with training. A stand out year does not mean a rider was clean the other years. It just means that everything came together for once (this goes with or without doping... sport is "the perfect alignment of every factor")

EPV (Glandular Fever), was well reported at the time as why he took time out a few years ago. Its hardly news.

At least this isn't being swept under the carpet as was a fear voiced here.

Knew this would be top of the posts list. It does not look good for the lad and to be honest it can't be that surprising that he was at the very least pushing the limits of doping. Surely micro doping EPO could well have been on his list.

As we all know the story this is a man who has been quoted by friends as willing do anything to win digging deep etc.

Where have you read that? Got a linky?

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/dec/17/tiernan-locke-team-sky-anti-doping-violation

However although Sir Dave Brailsford was at pains to point that out, Tiernan-Locke's former team, Endura, subsequently looked to distance themselves from the discrepancies, saying that the rider was involved with Team Sky before his official start in January, including time spent at a training camp in Tenerife.

Which begs the questions, did Sky not test JTL? Not just his Vo2 but for everything including BP.

Garmin runs internal testing at a cost of $500,000, does Sky not do similar, hmmm!
