Very good tt and very pleased how he sounded in the interview. Fingers crossed that the team can turn his mental capacity and mental endurance into the right optimal track, because imho that's where it's at. If they get it done, he's money.

Based on what? He's 22 yo and new to WC level racing and just beat a credible field. Seems like none of us bystanders have a clue of his current strengths and those he can develop. Being on the M Squad is a wild card, though.
So far Romeo has shown no signs that he is a climber. He got in a break with Leknessund and was stronger than him thats about it.

Spot on about the mental side of things. At this level, that's often what separates the great from the good. If the team can keep him in a good headspace and manage the expectations, his physical talent will definitely do the rest. He seems much more composed this year.

There's no doubt Ayuso made the right decision leaving UAE, the question is more whether Lidl made the right decision hiring him.

Anyway, I'm fully on the Ayuso train and I hope he somehow beats Pogacar in a race this year. The reaction will be an all-timer
Wishfull thinking. If he coudn´t dropped Almeida in a climb (he hasn´t donde altitude training yet), only in the final sprint, imagine against Almeida´s leader.

If Vingegaard is in shape, he should easily beat him, as he did in Tirreno-Adriatico.
He can beat Pogacar on an bad day, like Skjelmose in Amstel, but aside from that kind of exception, he's not at that level.

So far, he hasn't shown any difference; in previous years he was also very good in these one-week races against these rivals. From some comments, it seems that he has achieved this because of a change of team, and that is exactly what he was doing before.
It reminds me of the comments about Remco after Mallorca and Valencia when in those types of stages he did what he was already doing before.

And this is exactly why I am fully on the Ayuso-train.

He's 22 and new to the limelight. So we write him off? What does that say about RBH's leader at the UAE tour? The absolute armchair critiques voiced here are laughably righteous. Let the kids play and then judge their future with a broader view.

I am not writing him off at all. I really like him as a rider and I think he can become a super strong rider.

But given where his capabilities are at the moment it does not make a lot of sense to me to focus on GTs for him. He is not a naturally gifted climber and he does have a lot of skills in other areas.

Should be a relatively easy W for Ayuso in Paris-Nice on this kinda route with already a great win in the back in Algarve. Cant see where Jonas can drop him

Limelight, Remco, armchairs and broader views have very little to do with any of this. Romeo being 75 kg and a huge guy who has never showed any signs of being an actual climber has more to do with it. He seems to have great talent as a rouleur in rolling terrain though. 'Us bystanders' can quite confidently predict that he won't be fighting against Ayuso for the white jersey in the Tour anytime soon. If nobody could ever be 'written off' because of any reason whatsoever, then what's the point of discussing anything?

P-N will be a rematch between Trek and Ineos as the latter will tentatively field Vaquelin, Rodriguez and Onley. As far as I know, a healthy Rodriguez could outwork Ayuso in longer climbs. Skjelmose will be starting at Trek, and if the issue of team leadership will be resolved on the road, Trek should utilize their 19 years old helper if the two leaders could not work together.

Ayuso made the right and normal decision btw, he was degraded to 4 in line at UAE and wanted freedom.

Win-win as Ayuso gets more freedom. Good rider temu version of del toro though

Have we completely forgotten Vingegaard dogwalking races like Tirreno, Itzulia, Gran Camino and Dauphine in the past few years?

In stage races, Vingegaard has basically been the 2nd best on even 5 minute climbs behind Pogacar for a few years now.
