There's no way to go around the fact that this is ***-story of the year.


Anyway; let's hope all the people caught up in this team-folding will be able to find somewhere to work for next year.

Nothing is ever guaranteed in cycling, and the JV riders were already aware that the team's future was uncertain. Also, we have no idea about how they're going to treat the riders and staff members, who might be left without a job if the merger goes through. You're jumping to conclusions way too early.

This is not a good idea! This can never be a good idea! A team folding is never good!

But that it's probably the least likely scenario. Either the merger happens and only one team will be left, or the merger doesn't happen, and then Plugge & Vo will have to find a different solution to their problem.

Well, I guess the merger not happening will be the best solution, but that ship unfortunately seem to have sunk...

So, it's the worst outcome... A team is folding!

How would Quickstep have been in danger if this *** hadn't hit the massive fan?
Was the-team-currently-known-as-Jumbo really in danger of folding after this year?

This isn't a case of two teams both being in immediate danger of folding, and at least a merger can salvage something. This is, plain and simple, a team folding!

Lefevere and Bakala want to leave the sport before too long, so something was bound to happen at QS as well.

Surely Quickstep-the-team could continue with a new General Manager... teams do, after all, sometimes get new General Managers. Not sure who this "Bakala" is... not someone with SQS!

Look, there's no need to try and sugar-coat the fact, and claim it's even remotedly a good idea.

UCI needs to set up some sort of foundation, to at least do something to avoid these sudden late-season foldings!

Bakala is a Czech business tycoon who owns 80% of Soudal-Quickstep.

SQS were so bad this year outside of Remco that it seemed to me that lefevre wanted out,and his bad vibes were bringing the riders down with him. There are a couple of teams that can step up, I think, like Tudor or Q36.5, with the resources and desire to stay in the WT.

Still, it would be much better if Astana were folding rather than QS.
