I'm amazed that apparently no rider felt genuine hatred for Di Luca earlier
Escapes a doping investigation, wins a Giro, gets dropped from his team because of doping investigations, has an obvious drop in performance, gets suspended for contact with a dodgy doctor, comes back and nearly wins another Giro with a performance that just screams doping, gets popped for CERA and makes another return without even having served a full 2 year ban ...

maybe it was a case of most of the peloton going "there but for the grace of the doping gods go i..."

a clean talansky should be worried about that statement being true rather than dismissing it as the lie of a lying scumbag.
and did talansky ever address armstrong in similarly tough wordings?
andrew, the Pit Bull.

reminds of how the peloton lashed out at Ricco.
Clearly, once a doper gets publicly exposed as clearly as Ricco or Di Luca, the peloton start raising their voices.

Perhaps more a case of hating what he doesn't understand? vs Armstrong, who is an all-American (anti)hero, someone he would like to emulate?

Vaughters giving some info on Twitter

Jonathan Vaughters @Vaughters · 6h
@jeffvolkmer @SSbike @RushianLFC @notnix so, good test, good race results, normal hematology 4/5 times in the year = clean rider.

Jonathan Vaughters @Vaughters · 6h
@jeffvolkmer @SSbike @RushianLFC @notnix we try and triangulate physiological (power, lactate) profile with hematology and race results.

Jonathan Vaughters @Vaughters · 6h
@jeffvolkmer @SSbike @RushianLFC @notnix conversely, good race results, somewhat odd physiology, very odd hematology + inconsistency = bad

I guess 'bad' = 'doper', but JV can't bring himself to say it...

Perfect example of a guy that is spending some time and energy on the idea that he's running a clean-ish team. The process described seems reasonable too. The rest of the UCI's public team management don't even bother.

Per the OTHER JV thread, if there's good fortunes at the Vuelta and a 'machine calibration' issue, he'll address it. Because, it's a machine calibration problem.

I realize that's entirely inconsistent, but, at least the guy is making noises like a clean-ish operation. You can't say that about the other teams. Well, at least the ones communicating in English.

Why, is there anything wrong with an Ochowicz-type response?

That’s the first time I’ve heard about this

Or a Lelangue-type response?
That name sounds familiar. I don't think he works for BMC though. I've never seen the guy at a race.” :D

his definition of a 'clean athlete' is laughable.
explains why he (says he) thinks the peloton is so clean now.
it's the definition of a rider flying below the radar (who might, but certainly needs not, be clean).
or, if you will, the definition of a rider with a decent program.

what is laudable about him coming in here to insult your intelligence talking about brad "100% clean" wiggins and froome's crazy adaptive physiology.
what is laudable about him spreading the message to who wants to hear it that you can win GTs clean now? it's (a) not true and (b) counterproductive. The only aim I can see is to try and convince the agnostics, convert the non-believers, and keep the sceptics at bay.
It's self-serving, which is very understandable, they all are self serving, but I don't see why he deserves any praise for the fact that he's putting in more effort than others to insult our intelligence.

I also wonder, how does he know what a 'bad' profile looks like if all his riders are clean and so are all the riders he's tested such as JTL, Contador.

When anyone argues that a rider "stopped doping" my reaction is always "yeah right". And same in this case (JTL @ Sky, 2013). Not that there is ever any proof because you can't prove someone isn't doping but I think just common sense says it's very unlikely. I think doping is addictive and doping + winning is like crack. Bad results are almost always down to injury, illness or personal issues

So why the rubbish results and "normal" passport profile in 2013 ?
[...snipped...]
As for the "normal" profile, I'd say that was consistent with a rider now having a lot more money to spend on doping and / or now riding on a big team.
good post.
i think it fits well in this thread.
