lol this post shows how much of a blind fanboy you really are.

but hey I guess cuddles has a much better recuperation rate then even contador. Even tho vuelta has even less rest time, and the competition there hasn't ridden the tour.

if cuddles wins vuelta I'll see you in the clinic :)

He'll get second after VDB2 :p

The climbs are not as onerous in the Vuelta and he will not lose too much time in the mountains, then he would go well in the last week like Cunego. There are time bonuses as well right???

Yea, those climbs aren't onerous.

And being good in the last week will be excellent, since just like the Tour, there are no GC-relevant stages in the first two weeks, except Sierra Nevada, Valdepeñas de Jaén, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, La Covatilla, a 45km ITT in Salamanca, Estación de Esquí Montaña Manzaneda, Lagos de Somiedo and L'Angliru. If he arrives in some kind of form by about week 3 it should be like taking candy from a baby.

Cool route, Contador should have done the Vuelta instead :p

I'll enjoy this Vuelta. Lot's of contenders this year. I really have no clue to who is the favorite here except perhaps Anton if he stays upright.

Since they lengthened the ITT my only problems with it are:

1) the Gasteiz stage isn't hard enough; they should perhaps have finished in Donostia instead, or at Urkiola instead of adding 50 near enough flat kilometres for the city centre finish, meaning that Peña Cabarga is probably the last real GC stage, though there is potential for some interesting racing on the way into Bilbao.
2) instead of the Tour-aping flat Madrid finale, they should go with what was rumoured, and have a ca. 20km ITT into the city. Not a long TT by any stretch of the imagination, but enough.

What a great race Evans rode...total fighter and was moving to watch...congrats to all the Aussies out here...I remember being a twenty year old and Lemond won as the first american...I was over the moon about it with pride and would imagine it is abit similar for you folks...and given all the massive cycling talent coming from down under I would say get used to it!

Is Cadel king? Bob's your uncle Cadel is king...

I would not mind seeing Anton win after looking so good last year and then crashing out. Have a feeling Evans may take a break and come back for autumn classics.

Wow, you are unhappy.

But I like your avatar.:D

Congrats to Cadel, BMC, all of his fans and all of the Aussies! A well deserved win.

P.S. Thanks Cadel for not making me have to suffer through a year of Andy Schleck being a Tour winner and the resulting explosion of his already massive ego. Hopefully this will be a humbling and learning experience for him.

I've always enjoyed Cadel, and unlike many of the instant fans that came to life this year, I've been watching him since the 90's. I felt bad for him back in 2002 when he held wore the Maglia Rosa for a couple of days, but then bonked and lost the race and even his spot in the top 10. But I've included a couple of shots I took in Vail, summer of '97, the same year he won a Silver in the U23 MTB World Championships. BTW, I loved the way he took this years title in France. He exemplified racing at it's best. Congrats Cadel!

Looks like he knew how to raise his arms properly whilst MTBing.;)

unreal, a thread to congratulate Cadel and we get some silly b0llocks quibbling about the vuelta
(I'm with Timmy though, Lombardia could be his and round out a stellar season for him)

Anyway, I'll say what I said on saturday sitting in a Parisian cafe watching the ITT... Lifted my large glass mug and proclaimed "Chapeau Cadel!". The French in there had worked out that we were Aussies and were happy to celebrate with us. Such a magic afternoon.

In a tour that was largely a course ideal for Schlecklet and definately not for Cadel, he prevailed. Barely put a foot wrong across the whole 3 weeks. An immense performance.

Right on!!! Absolutely agree! Wish I could have been in Paris to celebrate too! Chapeau Cadel!

Where's Ryo gone? Now that the Tour is over Ryo can drop the mask of hate and declare that hitherto hidden Evans fanboydom.

C'mon Ryo we know you want to....

Havnt heard from him since the mechanical incident on the Telegraph. Probably at home eating humble pie.

this is probably well known on here (I didn't know), but Evans just said on local radio that one of the tv motorbikes crashed right in front of him when his was doing the 'traditional' sip of champagne thing next to teh director's car! Crikey!!

Congrats to Cadel Evans on winning his lotto this year, with a deserved tatts going to his helpful teammates. To those who failed to assist him as well in the past, we simply say "Silence!"

And what help did he get in the mountains that he didn't got at Silence-Lotto?

The only difference this year was that he was up against the Schlecks. These guys don't know how to win. In fact, if he stayed at Lotto he would have gotten 3 times the support in the mountains.

He did'nt get any support from lotto they were too busy looking after Robbie Mc in the sprints. Support is not just the the visible presence on the climb its the 24/7 support for 3 weeks which Robert Millar commented on in C/news.
& Cadel has mentioned dozens of times how happy he was with the support from his team, he was a happy chappie all through the tour.

Yeah, like Contador kept thanking his team at the Giro

Cadel Evans never got real support except on the flat stages. His team was awful and if he was against the competition he got in 2007 or even 2008/ he'd have surely lost again.

Definetly would of won 2008 (w/o crashes) and likely he would of won 2007 (Evans)
