Liege has been a lot better in recent years. Jungels’ win was great, and it’s been a very competitive race every year since.
It's still a race where everyone waits for the final hill, the only difference is that it's 10 kilometres further from the line. It's been discussed to death but they really should get rid of Roche aux Faucons too, having Redoute be the last hard hill, with a better run-in, followed by Forges and maybe another easier climb. Basically following the style of the Amstel revamp in completion rather than the halfway house they've currently implemented.

Also I miss the drag to the line in Ans, it would have worked a lot better if they'd kept the 1990s finale without Saint-Nicolas. Example: the 1992 race, with a much harder central section and Redoute as the last big climb (and a different drag in Ans).

I think we all agree that the new route is a step in the right direction. Liege is nice for about 15 km as opposed to the final km in the Valverde heydays. And now, tactics play a much bigger role.

But my guess is that Devil wants 50 km of pure racing which would require another re-design.

Are the Quick Step DS on acid to come out with pointless tactics like sending Vansevenant on the attack who will blatantly lose 30 seconds on Huy at the end. Nobody is chasing because they don’t respect the threat.

Remco at that time would have been the card.

And we have to watch Mauri bobbleheading up until he's caught...

Ah, the obligatory pointless attacks on Cherave. Let's just have Thier and make it an elimination race.
