It is a sensible tactic if you have no other options. If you have other options, it would be stupid to put all your eggs in one basket. It was Lefevere himself who thought Evenepoel was misused during the WCC. It has been the trademark of the team to not put all their eggs in one basket for two decades, that has made them so successful.

I hardly think the world championship road race route was comparable to Flèche Wallonne.

Biggest problem for QS is :
  • Alaph requires slow pace or some accelerations until last climb to be fresh enough.
  • Remco requires perma high pace but no big accelerations to be effective.
Biggest problem is that Alaphilippe has not shown stellar form, which he is going to need in order to beat Pogacar and Cosnefroy. If he is in form, he should have no issue with the pace.
