Liege will suit him better. He's been in great form since the start of March so it's kinda expected that it should drop at some point (to build the 2nd peak for July). We'll see at Liege - he still can win it, even without his best form.

You don't think the chaseback to the peloton was a factor?Pog tried the old Dan Martin and blew up, I was sure he was going to zoom past them when he started moving up the outside. One of the few occasions when the relative weakness of his team has had an impact.
If Ala, Hirshi, Pogi, Roglic, Valverde, Purito, and other riders were in peak conditions they would have won today. We can say that we are shocked by this edition but let's wait for the numbers.I mean Valverde several years younger vs the top performers of this years edition
Well, 5 years younger. He didn't need 5 years to win this one. What a controversial statement to claim someone would have won the race if he was a couple of years younger, when he in fact did win the race several times when he was a couple of years younger.
If Masnada was in that attack with Andersen instead of Vansevenont, Quickstep would have finally won a classic! If Ala, Hirshi, Pogi, Roglic, Valverde, Purito, and my grandma were in peak conditions they would have won today.

Everyone lucky Argentin, Berzin an Cenghialta stayed home this edition.
It is the final 1km, its a decent but not supergreat timeTime is around 2'45'' from the 1km banner to the finish line.
I don't know what is the usual distance for those mesurements though.
Alaphilippe did 2.41 last year and equalled Valverde's record time. How is 2.45 not great then?It is the final 1km, its a decent but not supergreat time
Evenepoel really dropped like a stone as soon as the road went up.
Nothing to do with positioning imo he just didn’t have it. Pogi wasted too much energy being a long way down the group until the final 400 metres.Alaph was on the wrong wheel, not that you can really blame him
Pog seems a nice kid, but it would be pretty boring if he wins absolutely everything. Let him lose a little bit more and then destroy everybody at the Tour.I think Pog was pretty clearly still extremely strong, he was just waaaaay too far back and went too deep too early getting up the pack and lacked the tiny bit extra he needed.

Reverse prediction.Valverde wins that race 100% of the time if he were even a couple of years younger
Postdiction?Reverse prediction.
I was fine before but i did get nauseous watching this race.I am just going to assume everyone was sick!!!!
LOL. Chapeau Teuns!!!
Most winning times are between 2.40 and 2.50Alaphilippe did 2.41 last year and equalled Valverde's record time. How is 2.45 not great then?
the team actually pretty much did a perfect job today:Woods really needs to work on his placing, every year he starts the mur in 30th position to end up around 5th place.
In 30 years 2.45 is the 4th fastest time behind Ala and Valverde with 2.41 and Gilbert with 2.44. Only in 50% of the cases where they start with the péloton at the base they went under 2.50. If it in fact is 2.45 you are really selling Teuns short here. Most winning times are between 2.40 and 2.50
