Dylan Teuns well deserved win here. A climb that really suits him and he's been in exceptional form last month. I had a flashback when Valverde came beside him and thought he was doing it again.
Expected a lot more from Cosnefroy.

Looking forward to Liège. Remco won't have to look at Julian anymore I think, he's not in his normal shape.

In 30 years 2.45 is the 4th fastest time behind Ala and Valverde with 2.41 and Gilbert with 2.44. Only in 50% of the cases where they start with the péloton at the base they went under 2.50. If it in fact is 2.45 you are really selling Teuns short here.
Yeah, 2:45 is a good time.

He should come back next year for this one race only, he has 9 podiums, does anyone have 10 in a major race?

Too steep...

Apparently he had been training for these short efforts though.

LBL is supposedly his biggest target of the spring. A chance to redeem himself.
On average, the gradients of Faucons are not much easier than Mur de Huy. But it's more even which should suit him a little better.

Probably some Italian in the early years of MSR or IL. Girardengo probably has a thousand in MSR. De Vlaeminck likely close in PR.

If you are not named Nibali, thats what he does to riders.

This is a good question. 8 Tour podiums by Poulidor was my first thought. Then I found 9 Lombardia podiums for Bartali. Ancquetil won GP des Nations 9 (!) times but no other podium place.

Great tactical masterminds at Quickstep today: "Hey Remco, today you'll ride 200km in the peloton and do nothing. I don't even want to see you leading out Julian on the Mur".
Klaas Lodewijck calling the shots hasn't been a success to say the least.

Just looked it up.

Girardengo (Milan - San Remo) and Canardo (Catalunya) have 11.
De Vlaeminck (Paris-Roubaix), Gimondi (Giro) and Bartali (Il Lombardia) have 9.
That's it for the current World Tour races.

One can only hope. Entire team riding for a guy who's been off form the entire season. They got what they deserved today.
I'm just not sure who else they'd have ridden for today. 4th not what they were looking for, but don't know who else on the team was going to match that or do better.

The whole team has been short of their previous form this year.

They should have kept Ala in the peloton and have the young guys go on the attack and into breaks. Even if they would not be able to make it to the finish, it would take the pressure off the team in the peloton and put pressure on other teams. And on a good day one of them could just have made it to the finish.

I'd have put my efforts into Alahillipe rather than bother with all that if I were them. No one gets away in this race, or at least the chances are so small as to not be a realistic strategy.
