DQS seem to be sending a traditional for them sprint train / classics squad but they have a couple of climbers in there. Anyone know if Bagioli or Cattaneo will be trying a GC ride? Or are they just there to make the stage hunting more flexible?
Bagioli will ride the Vuelta as a learning experience which, by DQS standards, probably means he'll win a couple of stages and finish in the top5.

I see people picking sprinters for the points jersey in the prediction thread. Is Vuelta points jersey not typically something some GC rider wins by accident? Have they changed it?

You are right. The same points for sprint and mountain stages.

Glad I’m not imagining things. Looks like a sprinter can only win this if he wins pretty much every possible sprint stage and a load of climbing stages go to breaks.

The sprint stages, not that there are many of them, will probably end in sprints as both Bora and DQS have sent sprint support. But it’s very hard to see how a sprinter competes for the jersey

This is gonna be hard in terms of weather. Northern Spain is cold and rainy in these times. Its probably we will see problems with high passes.
There have been snowfalls in the Pyrenees but temperatures are currently above freezing level day and night and are expected to remain like this for this week. The road to Tourmalet is still open but the section between Aubisque and Soulor is closed.
For the rest of the mountains, if they ever go above 1500m it's a MTF and no snow is expected in any of them. Now, wet descents may be a factor regardless of altitude.
