What was Vos thinking to look behind? Strong effort from Dygert, but Vos won it for Kool.

not sure, I mean yes it absolutely cost Vos some time, and I dont know what she was thinking,, but I think Kool had her anyway, as it wasnt like a tyre width win, Kool was well clear at the end and Vos didnt lose so much speed it brought Dygert back into it.

an odd thing to do for such an experienced rider in that situation, but I dont think it affected the result

Nice to see Dygert racing again in good health. Apparently, it wasn't just her horrific injury in the World TT championship a couple years ago that caused issues. She also had Epstein Barr virus that dogged her much of the 2022 season. I read that she had a second surgery on her injured quad to relieve constant pain--and the surgery was performed by the same doctor that fixed Wout's lacerated leg from his TDF time trial a few years ago.

Ewers lost a lot of time today. I wasn't sure if she would be able to challenge for a top 10 GC anyway, but it'll definitely be hard to get now. EF-TIBCO-SVB actually rode a decent TTT considering they only started with 6 riders, but now they'll probably have to focus on trying to win a stage from a breakaway.

Wiebes who should be at this race is suffering from chasing the money at SD Worx.
I'm sure Kool would have been their lead sprinter in one of the GT-ish races even if Wiebes had stayed with them. but that could very well have been the Giro like last year. SD Worx could also have used this race as an opportunity to go for both bunch sprints and GC to try it out before the Tour.

Wiebes won a gravel race in Giro over the weekend, but since the Women's Tour is cancelled and SD Worx won't do the RideLorena Classic, they obviously have to find other races for her to do.

Controversial question:
Could you argue that Vos is the first woman to do the "Tripple"?
In other words; could you argue that it's really only from this year there are three "GTs" for women?
If the Vuelta wasn't long enough to qualify as a 'proper' GT last year, it probably isn't this year either. I think that, when we look back on this period in, say, 20 years, we'll think of last year as being the one where the women's GT reached a new stage of development, and of this year as being a part of that same stage, because I hope and think all three of the Giro, Tour and Vuelta will have grown past, and maybe even well past, being a one-week race at this point and so the step from five to seven days the Vuelta made won't feel as important anymore. So I would say the case for Vos being the first woman to win stages in all three GTs rests solely on the name change for the Vuelta this year.

Unfortunately, Realini got dropped...

Pretty sure it's the host broadcasters not providing images before now.

Advertised start time: 2:20pm. First images of the race: 2:45pm. You know its exciting & kicking off, so why not show us instead of the waffle? & if you can't show anything until 2.45pm, at least tell us what is happening instead of pretending you don't know!
