Question is how hard the GC riders will want to push it today with what's coming up tomorrow in mind. Vos, and possibly other fast riders, may be able to survive if the pace isn't too fast.

Santesteban, if she's feeling okay after her crashes yesterday, will be hoping to defend her jersey, but it seems Ghekiere is dreaming of becoming the first rider to win the QOM in all 3 GT-ish races (AVV never won it in the Vuelta because there wasn't a classification in 2021, Vollering hasn't (yet) won it in the Giro, and Lucinda Brand hasn't won it in the Tour).

If she manages it, it will have taken her only 10 months to accomplish, although it has to be mentioned that the constantly unlucky Clara Emond was still leading the competition in the Giro when she got hit by heat stroke and had to abandon.

Ghekiere has however not lost any unnecessary time yet and could therefore be denied if she tries to go up the road from the start of the stage.

Lippert is the type of rider needed at Jayco. Someone who could be a leader and finish off races. You would get total support from the team.

I agree that Lippert is currently better than what they have for multiple races, but Smulders, Wyllie, if she's staying and finds some form, and Trinca Colonel should in theory all be further from their peaks than her. Another option would be to strengthen the group of Italian riders with Persico and/or Borghesi.

Edit: Right after you posted, Movistar actually confirmed that Lippert has extended for 3 years. They must be reading the forum ;)
