Lampre: the end of March approaches

Are we to take it that the "serious administrative non-compliances" have been ironed out and that the team is around for the foreseeable future? Presumably the organisers of the Giro expect Lampre-Farnese Vini to be around in May, but is there any evidence that they have done whatever it is that McQuaid & Co want of them?

The Sporza commentators noticed that a 2nd sponsor name had appeared on the trousers during MSR, and speculated that they had found an additional revenue stream that might have addressed "the administrative problems".

The sponsor you refer to is Geox. Geox also purchased the right to adorn their vehicles with their logo. Will this influx of cash stave off execution from McQuaid's guillotine? Who knows, though I don't think Lampre would be getting funds from Geox if the team were to become obsolete in a few weeks. Stranger things have happened though.

I'll quote the e-mail newsletter I get from Lampre:

'A new sponsorship agreement has been signed by team Lampre-Farnese Vini and Geox. Another top company joins for 2010 the others that already support blu-fucsia team, for instance Lampre, Farnese Vini, Wilier, Imar Costruzioni, Gaerne and San Marco.
Sponsorship agreement provides that the Geox logo will be on the two sides of the race jerseys used by Lampre-Farnese Vini team and on the team cars, buses and vans. Petacchi, Cunego and the other team cyclists will be at Milano-Sanremo departure using the jersey with new logo.
"We're pleased that such prestigious company decided to support our team, joining our other precious sponsors - Giuseppe Saronni commented - Geox's decision to link his logo to our team is a sign of valuation for our team and is a confirmation that the image of Lampre-Farnese Vini is desirable" '
