Nice try, but nobody is suggesting that Armstrong brought doping to cycling or Triathlon.

Armstrong brings chaos. Just as he brought it to cycling when he paid off the UCI and spent a decade harassing riders, journalists, teammates etc. he will do the same to Triathlon.

Have fun with it, he is your problem now. No returns or refunds.

Armstrong will/is bringing publicity and interest to tri, I don't follow the sport, but it will grow big with Armstrong participating.

Yup, it will be like watching a car crash. People will not be able to look away

His critics and fans will follow him everywhere, since they transcend cycling.

I think you exaggerate his negative impact on cycling. Sure he was a tough character but he had a lot of friendships in the peloton as well. He has remained friendly with most of the favorites of his era. If he's not to your liking then maybe that's a problem for you rather than anyone else in particular. I just let him do his thing.

Easy Crockett-----Tubbs is not going to like you posting out here without back up!

Ummm maybe but I would not put any money on that.

I guess there will be people watching and they will get Phil and Paul to call the races? Then they can put clever little black wetsuit icons (black and yellow) where LA is at on the course. Like in the water they will have a little arrow highlighting where he is at in relation to the rest of the pack etc.
That will be hilarious considering the lack of separation in the water etc.
The Ironman championship is already televised. I wonder what else there is to do?

"prices and participation may vary"

Triathlon is far more successful than cycling in the U.S. They already make way more money than cycling in the U.S. The participant base is still growing and participants keep pouring time and money into the sport.

Triathlon's got nothing to worry about from cycling's generally flat participation rates. Non-competitive organized ride cycling remains pretty steady too.

Wonderboy's got quite a bit of expertise at non-positive doping, and then whatever Tri federation that made the deal will probably do a UCI and suppress the positive anyway.

It's only a matter of when he repeats any number of pitiful situations he created in cycling. Simeoni comes to mind... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filippo_Simeoni#Feud_with_Lance_Armstrong

Yes it’s just been huge thus far. Everyone can’t believe how amazing he has done and the sport is bigger than soccer - globally!

Wouldn’t it be nice if Tri could make its own heroes based on those who want a drug free sport. Why buy a washed up dope addict who can’t kick his habit to “transcend” triathlon?

The guy is yesterday’s news. Don’t say we didn’t tell you so.

I don't think that Armstrong will be able to repeat his Simeoni behavior in tri. First, he will never even come close to his TdF dominance, and second, triathletes are not herd animals to anything near the extent that pro bike racers are.

Armstrong is just a male model now.

All I asked is that Lance pays back his victims – ie embezzling $1m from SCA. Looks like he’s now doing community service in Triathlons.

What do you mean $1M? His take for 2005 was $7.5M. Add in the previous years and the Armstrong stole $10+ million. The insurance policy with SCA was like a professional arsonist taking out fire insurance on his home while planning to burn it down. It was outright insurance fraud from the beginning.

When will Armstrong repay SCA?

He already has. Check out his taunting of any Pro who question why the testing procedure suddenly changed from top 3 to 4,5,6

Don't blame us when young triathletes start injecting sludge into their arms.... but Dad I wanted to be like Lance....

We DO blame you. You and your ilk.

The whole "Doping will TRANSFORM you into a Champion" zealot gang. Who would believe that crap? Impressionable young athletes. Not too bright Dads. No worry about the smarter kids who would see through the BS. But the future Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and Albert Einsteins of the world - the world changers - are not hanging out in the weight room after school. Not following their dads advice. No worry about them.

Not saying that an athlete can't be a world changer. But that is rare. That is awesome. Awesome that.

Thanks for the update BroDeal. There's a lot of zeros right there. I wish he'd do something about paying back the victims of his insurance fraud and embezzlement. No wonder he drank tequila shots when he got off !*

Lucky guy. Maybe when the USADA sanctions come down we'll get to see SCA part II. Who knows.

Disappointing the victims have to go down an expensive legal route to obtain back the stolen monies.

In saying all this those victims who were harassed & bribed into changing their testimonies will never get their lives back. Especially that one who threatened to hit someone with a baseball bat because she couldn't live with the fact she lied for money and a job.

So sad. But great for triathlon !

Lance is showing his chest in Outside magazine this month. Big spread, front cover, 6 page article.

For me, when he retired the second time I thought that was it.
He's Back!

Which Outside Magazine was it? The top notch Investigative Journal or the Fanboy Fishwrap rag? I always get those 2 mixed up.

Anyway, whichever one it is - I hope the print extra extra copies. Here it is 25 years after Lance first turned Pro, and he is still selling out mags with his pic on the cover. Go figure.

Interesting that there were no leaks with this issue. No predictions on its release. Easy to tell the Lance Investigation is over lol.

He's back in the news a small bit. Tri doesn't get that much mainstream coverage....
Also, don't think he is quite dominating the 'Tri scene'. You can hope though.

The cover is nicely airbrushed don't you think? He has to keep up his Hollywood image.

Based on this sampling of Armstrong's alternative reality, the cult is alive and well.

Based on this random sampling from Wackyville, the cult is alive and well, although there may be a few who may be forced to drink the kool aid.
