I see where your coming from with this but even if he hasn't got a trail (say it was just a phone call) Its TT's word against LA's - At this stage who are you going to believe? I don't think LA will be suing for defamation its not like he hasn't got previous for offering large sums of cash to supposedly independent governing bodies.

Either way i suppose whatever evidence TT has that this happened he didn't feel it was strong enough in 2004 to reveal this offer had been received, that says a lot about the way LA and cohorts operated and if they could intimidate organisations such as USADA just imagine what it felt like to the Betsy Andreu's & Emma O'Neill's that got in the way. Fly swotting!

I don't think Travis has to worry and I don't think you need to "suppose" what Travis was "feeling". He's pretty professional and capable.

as thehog already suggested, it's particularly the UCI who looks bad in the light of these revelations.
Tygart subtly giving Phat the finger.
And notice how Tygart himself did not explicitly mention the UCI in this story, and rather trusts the journalists to draw the obvious conclusions regarding UCI's lack of integrity.

I'm sure he'll sleep easier knowing he has your overwhelming backing.

Tygart is not going to release this type of info without proof so you can sleep safe in your liestrong pjs that he'll have it.

So, big news is coming soon. I hope I have enough beer and chips in the appartement, am waiting in agony.

Too bad USADA did not make this public years ago. Maybe the FEDS could have done something with this conflict of interest?

2004 was a different time.

You couldn't release information like this. Especially an anti-doping agency.

If my near photographic memory serves correctly it was Black SUV missed test in 2004 was it not with USADA? And around the time OOC tests were being stepped up from nothing to about 4-5 per year.

More than one source

Tygart, who said the amount was "in excess of $150,000." Told by Pelley that "60 Minutes" had learned it was $250,000, Tygart replies, "It was around that ballpark."

This makes it sound like TT isn't the only source for the allegation.

So maybe TT didn't reveal it earlier because he couldn't get any one else to corroborate the story, but now he can.

So Tim Herman basically calls Travis a liar. Nice

This is evidence lance is a cheapskate. If I am going to pay off USADA I am going large with my first offer, $1,000,000. This is peanuts. $250,000 is what you give the "Cocktail waitress" you knocked up in Vegas.

Cocktail waitress? When? Was that in the reasoned decision?

No doubt that will come next... all the hookers will start coming out of the woodwork

In 2004 Terry Madden was CEO of USADA - so its unlikely that it was Tygart that was approached.

Also in the CBSnews piece it states: Told by Pelley that "60 Minutes" had learned it was $250,000, Tygart replies, "It was around that ballpark."
Pretty clear that CBS already had this before talking to Tygart.

I think this is RR's veiled reference to a certain blonde-haired singer. Interestingly, I didn't know Lance knocked her up. Didn't they say he was sterile from the chemo?

The man has one nut, go easy there ;-)

Amazed we haven't yet had theories on the psychological effect of orchidectomy on alpha males. There's a niche there...

Representing LA has not been easy on Herman. Take a look;

Travis was the Chief Legal Council. He has talked in about meeting with Armstrong at the time

So Lance is talking about admitting to USADA in order to get a reduced ban.....yet he is calling the head of USADA a liar. Wonder how that will work out of him?

Hummm, I wonder how 60 Minutes found out? :)

no no no.....it was not a specific reference. Just saying in general that is the going rate. USADA's price, if they have one, is much higher

PR 101. The only thing worse than bad press is no press. As long as Lance stays alive in the news cycle, there's a chance he could turn this thing. Slim, sure, but a chance.

The old "Everyone was doing it, level playing field" line is looking more ridiculous every day

Nearly makes you nostalgic for old fashioned pill-popping, doesn't it....Has any single player ever corrupted his entire sport to this degree before?

"No truth to that story," Tim Herman said to USA TODAY Sports Tuesday. "First Lance heard of it was today. He never made any such contribution or suggestion."

What happened to Fibbing Fabiani? Why have we gone to the second stringer on the bench?

Anyhow, as noted with respect to the 'Consideration' of an admission, and consistent with the denial of the offer to settle with SCA, Herman's denial is validation of the veracity of the story.

Dave.

Well, if the UCI was offered a bribe and took it, and USADA was offered a bribe and turned it down...I wonder why USA Cycling was left out of the graft...or maybe I should ask: I wonder how much they were offered, and whether or not they took it?
