"I'd rather be somewhere else but we've only got a week to go. I'm doing my best and I'll be surrounded by my family in Paris."

"I came to the Tour to try and get a good result but I've never been a quitter and I won’t quit now."

Actions talk louder than words, Lance.

I wish someone would tell Phil, Paul, & Bob that the fans see through the BS and no one has every really cared about the "team competition". Heck, this is the first time I can ever remember it even being mentioned as more than an afterthought on the final day. You guys may not like Levi, but you have to admit he is getting screwed right now, by the same two guys who screwed AC last year. I see a pattern.

If Lance cared about fighting cancer or sending a message, he'd fight like a dog every stage to show what not giving up is all about.

He's as much a fraud in his message as he is in his cycling.

Totally agree. But we already knew that it was never about "cancer awareness." Hopefully, the press and fanboys will wake up.

except that contador had the personality to go against while leipheimer hasn't which makes him an even bigger loser that will never win a gt.

I'm a perpetual fence sitter and this is spot on.

There's a great quote about courage that simply flies in the face of what Lance currently represents:

"Courage. . . Courage is knowing you can't win and fighting like hell to the end."

Courage. . . Lance doesn't have it.

Yep... I hate to say it, but he's given up. So he had one 'bad day' that put him out. He should fight like hell, not sit up like he's doing. Really disappointing.

It would be pretty tempting to relax and enjoy the spectacle and experience of the race, especially after spending eight Tours totally focused on the GC.

This thread should be renamed:

Alberto sure blows as a team mate.

Based on what? He's sucks as someone who disrespects the Maillot Juane and its traditions, but then again so did some texan rider from a few years ago.

Umm...

Wasn't it a Schleck/Schledck/AC/Klodi group last year, until AC decided to attack and drop Klodi??

You might want to do some homework (i'm long past asking for your ilk of the research) by watching the actual stage before mindlessly repeating the same crap.

Kloedi screwed himself there, basically it was clearly visible how Alberto consulted with him a few minutes before that attack, and asked to attack (first time in the entire Tour!). Andreas showed with his hand -- give it a go pal, i'll try to catch on.

When Alberto attacked -- Kloedi failed to catch up and dropped off from the group.

So back then it was a fair play.

Today it was not.

Not in the slightest.

But -- again -- why do we have discuss it in here?

Doesn't Lance have enough of his own fails recently (including those that DIRECTLY harm his own team)?

yeah and that is the only reasons why that name you carrie was on the podium last year so you better thank ac or lance's comeback would've been even more disgraceful

Lance's comeback has been disgraceful? You are qualified to assess this?
Anyone with eyes, ears and a bit of critical thinking can assess this.

If you don't meet one or all of these requirements...

Well...

I'm sorry i guess.

Yep he won the Tour too. But then wasn't that the whole point of him joining Astana.

Anyhoo, Armstrong helped Radioshack retake the lead in the vaunted team competition. His Tour is redeemed. :p

have you seen this tour?? he's the laughing stock of the peloton.

Laughing stock? Whatever.

BTW - LA came back last year. For those who may have forgotten, he raced a pretty good race.

As for AC, didn't he attack Vino a couple days ago only to see Vino lose the stage to someone else by 8 seconds?

If you think what Lance is doing is "disgraceful" (to what? humanity?), I guess you must live your life like Mother Theresa.

Your arrogance, sense of your own higher character, and ecclesiastical self-righteousness, Ryo Hazuki, is a disgrace to humanity, the universe, and all of existence.

When was the last time you raced in the TdF at 38?

Oh you didn't? Silly me.

But what does that make you? A supreme eternal disgrace.

Ah, I think AC came in second on that stage and he gained 10 seconds on AS. Vino won the next day's stage. Astana is there to win the GC, not just a damn stage win. They are not changing/altering their marketing strategy like RS--because RS's main goal has imploded.

Don't forget this--from 1999-2005 the guys on Lance's team were slaves for him. They only worked for him. I don't even think that a teammate won a stage until 2004 or 2005. That's how Lance ran things. Maybe AC wanted the same thing and Lance joining the team screwed that up? If it was OK for Lance, why couldn't that work for AC?

It's all about perspective.
