Manzano is a perfect example, too. Zero bargaining power, totally at the mercy of utterly unscrupulous monsters--management that had no qualms about recklessly risking a rider's life and health. Kids like Manzano are the fodder of pro cycling.
To call Manzano an asset to pro cycling is an ironic joke. The sport crushed him. In the end, his revelations made it possible for a different set of dopers to win a different set of races. Nothing changes.
Manzano is an asset to honest sport. Pro cycling is anything but.
